It wouldn't hurt as much if Randle is a surprise this year. But he's not a surprise. He was our best player!!!!! But the collective brains of Magic, Rob and Lebron felt $12 million to KCP, $3.5 million to Beasly, $4.5 million to Lance Romance was better. Because it makes us deeper, but there is a Rod Serling twists, because a roster can be deep with good players, as well as deep with bad players.
I still have a hard time seeing a team like Nets or Kings turning down 2 1st round draft picks+a bad exp k (Faried/ZBo) for Deng. Would have allowed us to keep Randle on long term deal+Max for 2019 _________________ "He's a Zen master, so he can speak to you, and he doesn't need a microphone; you can hear him in your head, 'Ron, don't shoot, don't shoot.' Geez, Julius seems to be consistently having 20/10 games and is has improved his shooting. Who could have predicted that?

Some people were in serious denial when it came to Randle. No matter how much improvement he showed, how well he played, or how consistent he became some treated it as a fluke.
I still see and hear people claim that Kuzma was the best player on the Lakers last season or that Larry Nance Jr is a better player. The word of mouth on Randle among fans and pundits is really bad for some reason while players in the league and coaches always heap praise on him.
So the Moral of this thread would be.....
Hold on to your young dudes to give them time to bloom.
yep...especially when they're obviously improving and continuing to work hard and get better every year and especially when they're your best player that season. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

Or practice what you preach! Luke and the Lakers like to talk about how every position is up for grabs. Well, Randle grabbed it and he was renounced for it. LOL! Not only that, they were all too eager to renounce him by making him feel not wanted, by saying things like his role would be reduced with Lebron. Seemed like they were just begging him to ask to be renounced. If every position is up for grabs like you preach every camp, how would you know his role would be reduced? How would you know he wouldn't still emerge as the teams 2nd best player?
This is truly this regimes first bonehead move. All too eager to renounce their best player pre-Lebron.
It's crazy he's putting up his stats off the bench. Imagine if he'd been on the team coming off the bench and putting up 18/9.
I really thought the team would have liked to pair LBJ/Jules as a wrecking ball crew. IMO, if we kept Brook (spacing purposes), then Jules/LBJ as forwards would have been perfectly fine.
When we went with Javale, who is balling, then spacing issues were legit. But even so, Jules is showing tremendous production off the bench. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals

I would love to have Randle on our current squad. I was a big proponent on doing whatever needed to be done to keep him here. Stroke his ego if it needed to be caressed. Just let him know that the franchise wants him here. It was a mistake letting him walk in my opinion, and the more he produces for NO, the more that becomes evident. Regardless, I love him and want him to play up to his maximum potential. He's earned it. _________________ I miss you Kobe. I miss you Gigi.
I was a huge DLO fan, but losing Jules is more sad to me for some reason. I really grew to love this kid and he would be amazing with LBJ IMO. We don't have that bruising dawg on our team that would protect LBJ. Tyson is probably the best in that respect but he's really a role player now. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals
