Who will protect the rim?

Our ability to switch screens.

Somebody suggested it, Ingram at 2 instead of Lou. You can still switch on screens, better D, eventually Ingram will be able to score too and the bench still have JC and Lou to get instabuckets

Nance is the best defender on the team. Clarkson has been our best perimeter defender. We're a much better team with those two on the court. Luke is overthinking these lineups.

Lou and Nick in the same lineup means less shots/ball control for Russell. Those guys don't move the ball. They just wanna shoot it everytime they touch it.

The stats prove that Nance is our best defender and +/- player. Swaggy has improved but we don't know how long it will last. We look like a completely different team when Nance is on the court offensively and defensively.

+/- =/= Better Defender.

He's had the biggest impact on both ends of the court. He moves the ball, can shoot, and best big P&R defender on the team.

How is being an average(?) jump shooter and making simple passes high impact?

He opens up the floor for the guards. Nance makes it easier for Russell and Clarkson. He's the ultimate glue player that you want in a starting lineup to balance it out.

But Clarkson's defense is here to stay, right?

Didn't say that, but a lot of his problems had to do with Byron. Taking wrong angles and just not being coached the right way. He looks much better. There's 10 years of bad film on Young.

Young's been a solid defender for at least the past couple of years. This is the best defense that he's played, but he's been respectable for quite a while now. But reputations are powerful.

My main problem with Lou is that he is undersized to guard most SG and against starters it gets exposed badly and I can say the same about Clarkson, unless Luke cross match them. After the preseason I'd start Young.

I like jules as a starter, I don't like him as a center so far. He's been pretty disappointing defensively and even worse as a rim protector/center. Can't count how many times I've seen a defensive breakdown in the paint because of him, only to inbound the ball quickly with a dumbfounded look on his face

DLO has been the best guard defender on the team in the preaseason.

That's Nick Young in place of Lou w/the starters.

Not in the entire preseason, but the first and last game I was impressed because he was really solid.

This is something I'd like to see alongside Nance at PF.
