Randle out for the season. I was looking forward to his development and dark horse for ROY. |

He'll probably qualify next year for rookie of the year? |

no. once he played a second in a non-preseason game this counts as his rookie year. |

did any lakers see him? |
The whole team left for Phoenix after the game last night.
Also classy of Harden and Ariza to do that. |
Yeah they had to fly to PHX directly after the game |
Quote: | sources told espn's Henry Abbott that kobe "demanded that the plane take off on schedule" even though the team requested a stop at the hospital where Lakers rookie Julius Randle was awaiting surgery. The source stated that at one point kobe even offered to "fly the plane his damn self" and stated that "we can't be worried about a rookie right now, broken tibias dont win championships" |
|
Careful, somebody might think that was a real quote and put it in the headlines.... | |

League may make exception in Julius Randle case for Rookie of the Year award
Quote: | Arash Markazi @ArashMarkazi
Julius Randle did play in last night's game which would normally mean he's ineligible for next year's Rookie of the Year award.
Arash Markazi @ArashMarkazi
A league source said the league could possibly make an exception for Julius Randle given the circumstances but it hasn't been discussed yet.

Good news. I hope they do.
Part of why I think Julius looked so sad was the fact that he knew he couldn't get ROY or anything like that anymore |

I think that was furthest from his mind, he knows the history of the team and the chance he had of being a big part of a turn around for Lakers and thir fans I think thats what that look was |

LMAO. No report ever says "and out for post-season as well" this early. He's effectively out for any basketball activities for this particular season. Playoffs or otherwise. |

I think Julius' sadness is also a lot of pissed off-ness too.
Mother came to town to see her son's first NBA game for his favorite team and you know how special of a moment this was all meant to be.
He is(understandably) a nervous wreck out there and then breaks his own leg with his foot... has to be carted off the floor with his season taken away from him in an instant.
The sadness, frustration, pain, physical and mental are gonna be a lot for him to have to deal with.
However if he's able to get over it he's not gonna have that 'fear' anymore and that nervousness and timidness won't be existent. After he's gone through something like this there's literally not much more for him to worry about.
I expect and hope for him to come out his 2nd year with a vengeance and in even better shape ready for the NBA grind. |

Man. how much more bad luck can we endure? I'm out of words...I didn't expect much from this team but watching Randle develop was one of them. Love the way he rebounds the ball and takes off. Honestly, if we end up with a bottom 5 record and keep our pick it will make this injury easier to swallow. JMO. |

What a tragic turn of events. Randle was just showing some really nice flashes, I hope he comes back next year stronger than ever and wins ROY. |

I could care less if league makes him eligible for ROY.
what I want from him is a much leaner version with great strength and conditioning.
he needs to be a better conditioned player if he wants to be an elite player. |

Lots of time to work on that midrange J now. If that shot becomes automatic he will be unstoppable. _________________ “This goes far beyond paychecks” |

I will just pretend to we didn't have a draft pick this year. If we don't get our pick next season I will assume we drafted randle. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

"best" case scenario for the Lakers would be somehow getting the 7th seed and pushing Houston to the 8th seed =P that would mean they'd get Houston's pick before Phoenix gets theirs |

Is it just me, or does Dr. Klapper always say that every Laker will always come back stronger than before the break? |

Yup. Dude's homer. Last night he said that Randle would be back by 3 to 4 months. Now he says he's done for the season. Which one is it Dr.Klapper?
I remember Klapper saying the same thing after Nash suffered his broken leg. He didn't take into account the nerve ending symptoms. |
