I'm really high on Randle, but it's a huge reach to say he's a "Wealthy Lamar Odom".
Odom was one of the most naturally gifted basketball players I've ever seen. He had all the tools to be a perennial all star and possible hall of famer. Odom just lacked discipline in every sense.
A wealthy Lamar Odom is basically Lebron James, and Randle is not Lebron James in terms of talent.
you are comparing to a LO that max out his potential instead of the actual Laker role player LO
Even as a "role player" he was a 15/10/5 guy. That's with all his inconsistencies and brain farts. A better version of that guy is an perennial all-star. Hope Randle can be that guy .
I always felt it was never that hard to defend Odom because he was a finesse player who never developed his jumper and right hand consistently enough to be a great player. In other words, force Odom right and cover the space to where he cant drive but force him to take contested jumpers. 2010-2011 was Odom at his best with his skillset and his mindset all in tune and even then he couldn't raise his level in the playoffs. Randle does have the bully ball mentality to force his way in the paint even if he is also too left handed dominant which is something Odom never had

I think Randle is going to really surprise people... seems like everyone is overlooking him now that we got one of Towns or Okafor on their way in. I think Randle is going to be an absolute beast for us and will solidify our front court. People are also trying to slide Randle in the 3 spot on the wing which I think is silly. Yes, he's versatile and has quick foot speed but it's pretty obvious -to me at least- that Randle eats his dinner inside on the block. His post moves and feel around the rim are elite status.

I just hope he doesn't turn into another Michael Beasley, who looked really good in college: _________________ "Chick lived and breathed Lakers basketball…but he was also fair and objective and called every game the way it was played."

Randle reminds me a little of James Worthy ... albeit a bulkier, stronger, shorter-armed, smaller-handed version. His quickness and spin moves getting to the basket have a Worthy quality.

He needs to keep working out with Worthy, that's for sure. A lot of good can come out of that.
I'm seeing a lot of Odom comparisons , probably because they're both lefties ... I hate trying to fit rookies into a pre set mold player but if i have to, I look at Randle's affinity for the post and bully-ball mentality and this reminds me more of the younger (76er) Barkley than anyone else... Not the Phoenix suns, dribble with my back to the basket for 20 secs Barkley... I'm talking bout the younger 76er, that got 10 offensive rebs, ate your heart while dunking in your face Barkley...
I don't think Randle is as and damn sure isn't more talented than Odom. What Randle and Odom do share is that they're bigs that can run the floor like guards, are elite ball handlers for their position, and they both possessed good to great and passing skills for players their size.
Again, that's not to say Randle is as talented as Odom, but there are a few comparisons that can be made.
I really wish more posters around here understood the difference is saying "He reminds me of" and "He's just like/He's better than".

When Randle has a full year under his belt, then we can compare him.
Lamar was a great team player and evolved into an excellent 6th man and quality power forward. When Randle has a 15/10 year, he can be compared to Lamar, right now he is like a Don Ford, for you old school guys...

Who says he can't post a SF? In most cases it would give him a size advantage. I see him taking the more physical PFs off the dribble and using his quickness. Bully the smalls and use skill and speed against the bigs. Just because we'll potentially have Towns or Okafor doesn't mean he can't get to the post.
