If the lakers have more success this season than expected than I can see Kobe resigning for 3 more years with the same young core and than the lakers go after Kevin Durant in the off season 2016
If Randle continues to play like this he will be Rookie of the year. |
Unfortunately (unless the league intervenes) I believe that boat has sailed. |
I thought it was determined some time ago that he would be classified as a rookie this year. _________________ Not a legend |

No, he's not considered a Rookie (which is better for Randle when it comes to his next contract). |

I'm pretty sure it was ruled that he would be considered a rookie this season. |

That one foot stepback J off the dribble is nasty. Very Lebron-esque. |

It's clearly going to be one of his bread and butter moves when he attacks the basket and can't get all the way to the rim. |

Dr. J is doing good. Keep up the good work kid. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold. |

When Randle turns his motor on like he has the last 3 preseason games he starts playing like a hybrid of LO and Barkley. I am loving his play as of late. Hopefully he gets his jumper going and starts tearing teams apart. |

I like how they are rewarding him for boards by letting him intiate the offense. Gives an entirely different look and lets him display some of his open court decision making. |

Yup and the best part is he's looking better and more fluid each game initiating the offense. He's reading the defense pretty well off his drives and kicking out to open teammates when it's there. |

As his reputation as a legit playmaker grows, and as he slows down and makes those open-court reads (and then explode to the hoop as defenses back off him, anticipating the pass), it's just going to open everything up for everyone. He's going to put an incredible amount of pressure on defenses. And he's going to live at the line.
Then, once he really starts incorporating those step-backs and runners to his drives...
Wow.
Just gotta get that J down. _________________ Everything. Changes. |

#RANDLESHANDLES
(scroll down to 2nd article)
Quote: | This summer, Los Angeles Lakers coach Byron Scott came to Julius Randle with an order.
"I told him every time he gets a defensive rebound, I want him to push it," Scott said Sunday following his team's 126-83 preseason win over Maccabi Haifa at Staples Center here.
It's not typical for a 6-foot-9, 250-pound power forward to have the green light to initiate fast breaks all by himself.
"True," Scott said with a smile.
But that's precisely what Randle has done on numerous possessions throughout this preseason, and his agility, athleticism and ball-handling skills have been one of the biggest highlights -- and biggest surprises -- for the Lakers, continually impressing his teammates, coaches and fans alike. Thus the creation of the social media hashtag, #RandlesHandles. |

Anyone know how many of his TO's came off passes last night? Seemed like the sloppiness was from trying to score. |

People are starting to take notice of Randle outside of the Lakers bubble. Here's to hoping continues to impress and people fear the Lakers again. |

Seems like he's setting better screens now than last year. He's got a long way to go but the young fella is making strides. I'm very happy with him |

Yup, there were moments where he was allowed to bring the ball upcourt even off a non-rebounding situation. |

Agree that it's a great motivator for him to board. His activity level overall is just insane right now.
The last thing defenses want to see is Julius leading the break with a full head of steam but him jumping screens and attacking loose boards is havoc wreaking.
Love what I'm seeing from him.
That J though man ... that could lead him to All-Star status. _________________ We back. |

No Russell on the floor then, so really he was just taking the playmaking away from Clarkson. |

Seems to be a trend with a lot of recent Kentucky players. Even Anthony Davis was only able to show just a portion of his entire offensive repertoire. KAT as well.
I guess with getting so many high end 5 stars per cycle everyone gets a specific role and sticks to just that. |

This has been his best stretch he's played here. His confidence is continuing to develop and I think him working with Worthy has really benefited him. Hopefully this stretch continues. Would like to see him take those mid range shots with more confidence also. |

And that's cool too. Just makes a defense react differently. |

Same with Towns. Clearly, the weakest spot of both of their games. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

Thanks for the video. I would love him to do that rip move that Horry was talking about. I remember when Rick Fox used to use that in the post a lot. Very important for him to have great footwork. Glad the Lakers hired James. _________________ "Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence wins championships."
