I wonder why he changed from #5 to #6? He was #5 in summer League games and his twitter is JClark5on.

Josh Selby did too a few years ago. Take summer league play with a grain of salt.

Agreed. But he can only do well in the situations he's been placed in.

Good 3rd string PG with an upside... Diamond in the rough potential

Cheap price and if he is worth it, we have the ability to match contract offers.

Why third string? If Clarkson and Randle show potential, they should be played 35 minutes a game. This is the time to see what you have on your roster.

I will not project where to rank Clarkson because IMHO, if he looks better than Nash and Lin, he should start. From what I have seen of Clarkson, he is not a diamond in the rough, the kid can play. It is yet to be seen if his game translates on the NBA level, but given the Lakers are in limbo right now, I will be highly disappointed if that question is not answered definitively through Clarkson's playing time.

Basketball Insiders website lists Jordan Clarkson as one of "The Gems Of The Second Round."

Quote:
Jordan Clarkson – (46th pick) – LA Lakers

Clarkson might be the steal of the draft at 46, mainly because the Lakers needed some talent at the point guard spot, and Clarkson could be that guy.

Normally the 46th pick doesn’t play a lot if at all, but Clarkson should get a chance to get on the floor this season and that means he’ll have a chance to prove he can play.

With a former combo guard as his head coach in Byron Scott, Clarkson should get the chance to learn and play that few guys in his position receive.

He already looks better than Morrison and Goudlock.

That's a fact & with Coach Scott, Kobe, Nash & Lin to learn from I think he'll do quite well for us.

Josh Selby is a 6'2" SG that struggled to play PG. Didn't learn discipline at the NCAA level.

Clarkson, captain of his team. 6'5" PG. Far more natural.

I've sId it multiple times.
It's in the best interest of the lakers to play clarkson over Nash and Randle over boozer. Sure the latter talent is more established and might result in better initial success. But as time progresses turning clarkson and randle into solid assets is more important on and off the court.

Agreed. But at the beginning they will unfortunately trot Nash and boozer most likely. If we are looking out of contention then you'll see a dramatic turnaround.

I'm trying not to be too much of a homer about him since I'm a Mizzou grad and watched him a lot ... and also, of course, a Laker fanatic. But I'm very optimistic about how the kid will do.

I can't help but be optimistic. He works hard and has some talent on the court. He looks like he belongs.

this kid really played well from what I can tell at both Tulsa and Mizzou. Outside of sitting a year to transfer why did he fall so far in the draft? anyone know?
