Don't think so. As much as the Spurs are great in terms of a repeat, I don't think they can afford Gasol. Pau made $19M last year and still believes he's worth that. So no way Spurs are gonna spend that big on him. Unless he takes a paycut, don't see it happening. _________________ Check out my stuff:

Probably yeah is a vote for no since the question says "definitely". No matter who signs with the Spurs, it is not a foregone conclusion that they will win.

Not to ruin things with some reality, but all the press reports state that he is looking for 10-12.
dude can't play 10 games without breaking down, he's washed up. A team that prides themselves on defense can't afford to have ZERO rim protection. They'll get eaten up.
Shocked that this many people think Spurs have a 100% chance of winning it all next year. I don't buy it ... People i think are misreading the poll question.
Don't be making these kind of thread unless you want to get your you know what kicked. _________________ When she gave me the looka I took out my bozka.
This was argued on ESPN today. One reported thinks Miami would be a good fit also. _________________ Started posting on Lakersground when it was lakers/rivals.com since Aug.2000.
yes. A passing big man in Pop's system is a beautiful thing to watch. If they can stay healthy, I think SA will repeat. _________________ "I don’t give a [expletive] what you say. does SAS even have cap space and/or rotation space?. Last i checked Duncan/Splitter/Diaw were the rotating bigs with bonner coming in for situational moments _________________ "I didn't mean to walk in the shower with him. Yeah, I walked in the shower. Pop would adjust his rotation for Pau without a doubt, he's that kind of player. And Pop would know how to make it work.
As far as cap space, Pau would be taking a discount if this were to come to fruition. _________________

Pau going to the Spurs would greatly enhance their chances to repeat but there are no guarantees.
If I were him I'd go. The Lakers, other than Kobe, have shown him little respect. He has little or no chance to win a ring here next season.
It's a win, win. Pau gets a shot at a ring, Lakers get cap space relief.
I believe next season will be Tim and Pop's last. Tim and company have probably already started to prepare for next season. They're probably getting physically and mentally prepared as I ink this. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

May be, but when they got Horry from us, he was an old A-to-B clunker when we needed him to be a daily driver. They wound up using his tangible skill of hitting big playoff shots on the way to one of their titles. They'd get much more out of Gasol than they got out of Horry, trust.
I'd rather see him in San Antonio than Miami. I can't imagine seeing him in Heat colors. Offensively, he would fit perfectly on the Spurs too.
Kudos to Pau if he does go to Miami because you've got to be skilled if they're going to sign a guy who's not a proud and notorious "next Tuesday".
It really is interesting how diametrically opposed the Spurs and the Celtics are in the guys they target and it's not coincidence. Nothing on Marcus Smart, but I just suspect they wanted him over Randle to SOME extent because he is viewed as a guy whose game has the kind of intangible edge they like (see Rondo), and not just because he bumped that heckler either. I couldn't imagine Pau as a Heat or Celtic, nor could I imagine they'd actually sign him until I see it with my own eyes. _________________ GOAT MAGIC REEL SEDALE TRIBUTE EDDIE DONX!
How does a championship get locked up? Will the season get canceled so the Spurs could automatically be declared the winner?
People have been constantly criticizing Gasol for years here and now people are acting like this is 2008. I haven't seen him do much to help the team win in the last couple of years.
