Why can't Kelly play C if he bulks up some? Hie is 6'11'' plus and a pretty good defender. On offense, he can force the shot blocking C's out of the lane.
Lin
Kobe
Xavier
Randle
Kelly
Give Lin room to drive and finish or dish, give Kobe room, and give Randle room to drive or post up. |

yes Kelly would do great at starting center, he would really help us get that #1 pick in the lottery! |

I just think Jordan Hill is a good back up for both spots playing about 30 min a game. Energy big off the bench with a run and gun 2nd unit to crash boards and clean up garbage points. |

Yup, he is pretty good. Moves well and a very smart player. Can pass and shoot on the offensive end, not a ball stopper. |

Kelly shoulda been there last year in the final 2 games. Pisses me off that that 2-faced Dantoni played Hill and ruined our chances at Exum. A stretch 5 with Kelly and Wes at the 4 was his system. Hill should never have been in the mix. |

All that is true but it doesn't make Kelly an option as a starting center. |

Well, with regard to "bulking up", not every person can do it, nor can every body type support significantly greater weight. It's a slow process, not something available to many guys in a short interval.
For 2014-2015, Kelly is who he is, versatile and moblie, built like a classic stretch four. I think he's perhaps suitable as a center - next season - for only emergency or spot (third string) duty. |

It would lower opponents 3pt field goals against us. I'd rather not say why. |

Ryan Kelly can be a Boris Diaw type player with the right team. This is why good coaching and system are important. _________________ www.blacksaltfilm.com |

While we're at it, can we have Nash play PF.
And Randle play PG.
And Kobe be on the medical staff.
Why stop there, let Ron Artest be the GM.
We might just be able to get the #1 pick more than Cleveland in the next 10 years. |

His rebounding is at SF levels, and he can't defend anything resembling strength or move with great coordination. The problem isn't to make him a better defending, since he'll max out at something below average; we need to cut to the chase and get an absolute rim protector to save these guys. |

At 6'11", it can be difficult to "bulk up", but I think people here are being too hard on the OP.
Kelly can play Center. It's not his ideal position, but it's not ridiculous considering our current options. |

He is about the same size as bosh, problem is randle is also undersized..on offense they would be really good with lin and kobe creating for them.
It could of work with longer athletes around them
Stephenson
Kobe
Wesley
Randle
Kelly

So they spent $9 mil on a guy who no one thinks can start? I just assumed this position was Hill's to lose.

No. Kelly can't handle the C spot defensively. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

True, but I don't like Hill next to Randle and Hill tends to break down when he plays too much. |

I think Kobe could play better at Center than Kelly. |
