I actually really like the Boozer pickup.
With Randle and Boozer, you have 2 guys who are known for using a lot of strength with a little bit of finesse and skill to score, and for eating up rebounds at a healthy clip.
Likewise, with Hill and now Davis, you have 2 guys who are known for rebounding and hustle and energetic (albeit not dominant) defense. Both are known for having C-type games in PF-type bodies, as both are better at getting putbacks and in-the-paint-finishing as opposed to mid-range and stretch shots. Also, both of them NEED CONSISTENT MINUTES to show what they can do.
2 pairs: an offensive PF with rebounding ability matched up with a rebounding center with defensive enthusiasm. A veteran at each position, and a rookie at each position.
Hmmm... maybe Mitch and the FO know what they're doing after all. _________________ Keep or Dump Power Rankings (4/12/23):

Mim I noticed that too. I think Boozer is gonna surprise some people who written him off too early. _________________ Coach Vogel, Kidd, Hollins

Fans forget that Carlos played center for Coach K at Duke. Just because he's not a defensive juggernaut is no reason to dismiss the skills and experience he brings us for an extreme value. I can imagine that both Lin and Kobe will both enjoy playing with Booz out there. I think we're going to be a much better team in terms of balance this year, certainly a different style of offense.
Is it normal to have press conference for individual player rather than group them together?
It seems to be a waste of time and resource to stagger the press conferences and guys like Ed Davis could have an almost empty media room.
It's been done both ways. Asik and Lin each had their own press conferences when they signed with the Rockets. Jason Kidd and Marcus Camby shared a press conference when they went to the Knicks.

I think the rebounding is going to very important. Defensive rebounds can help ignite fast breaks, especially when you have a PG who likes to push the pace in transition. And offensive rebounds are going to be important if you need to compensate on the offensive end for any supposed weakness the team might have on the defensive end of the floor.
Lakers will have press conferences this week for Ed Davis (Wed), Jeremy Lin (Thurs) and Carlos Boozer (Fri). Still crickets on coaching hire.
Press conferences are normally @ 11am.
they should put them all in one session....more exciting that way....lol
maybe they can all show up in the staple center then Boozer gonna be like..."we gonna win not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4, not 5....."
It depends on how much of their own time the bigwigs want to spend to welcome the new guys.
For instance, the press crowd at the Asik conference was much smaller than the one at the Lin conference. And the owner and GM attended the Lin conference, but I believe they both sat out the Asik conference and had the assistant GM (who was Sam Hinkie at the time, the current Sixers GM now) handle the Asik conference. If they had combined the Lin and Asik conferences, the owner/GM would have had to devote more hours to sitting through it.
Dividing the conferences up allows the bigwig owners/GMs to decide how they want to spend their time and selectively choose which conferences to be at or delegate. More conferences also lets you milk it for more publicity.

And don't be surprised to see randle slide over to the 3 and Kelly get some minutes at the 4. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel

this would be a positive instance of "position-less basketball"
Kelly would play on the wing/stretch the floor no matter what. and if the D puts a SF on Randle, force feed him in the post. if he D keeps their PF on Randle, Randle takes him off the dribble from 20 feet out.
it's position-less - just about spots and matchups.

Did I really just read this on LG? Was that a pig that just flew by my window? _________________ Not a legend
All I know is that I'm really glad we got some guys who can bang. Going from finesse guys like Pau, Kaman and Kelly to guys who arent afraid of contact like Boozer, Randle and Davis makes me
Now finesse isn't bad. Especially if you're skilled. The thing with that is, if you're not hitting your shots, then your game is pretty much off.
When you're banging inside the paint and you crave contact, even if you're not hitting your shots, you have a chance to make up for that by having the chance to be fouled. And there's 2 positives in that: 1) You put the other team's bigs in foul trouble and 2) you get to make up points on the foul line.
