I have no problem with putting a vet obsticle in front of Randle and telling him he needs to force the coach to promote him to starter with his play. Hopefully Boozer plays well enough to make that a tough proposition.
Eddie Jones did that for Kobe and it turned out pretty well.
This. I think Boozer will be quite the mentor for Randle and by next season, Randle will be ready to accept the full PF starter's role. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals
I want Boozer to start at the beginning of the season so Randle doesn't start out complacent as a rookie being handed a starting role. Kobe had to sit on the bench at the beginning of his career too.
Magic, Jordan, Bird, Lebron, Barkley,Wade, Webber all started as rookies and they weren't complacent. Those guys played well and learned from their mistakes. Kobe didn't start as a rookie because he was backing up an all star SG in Eddie Jones, Boozer is not good anymore. There's no logical reason why Boozer should start over Randle, Randle is already better then Boozer.

I understand Boozer's expectation to start, but I am unsympathetic and unconvinced of his efficacy as a main player, starter or finisher.
It's a sad commentary on the Laker team overall, isn't it ? In so many ways too:
- I'm incredulous that Boozer could be considered at all as candidate for a starting center role - or even a primary or regular rotation center , let alone a starting power forward. The man simply plays no defense, and he plays less now than he has ever done before. All this comes following his first season of having fallen out of the rotation for the Bulls, once their playoff hopes were on the line. Sigh.
- I've little hope that Coach (Scott) can knit together an effective big men playing rotation from such an unattractively strange mix of disparate pieces. From among Hill, Randle, Davis, Sacre and Boo, we are absent one natural NBA-quality starting center among them and absent a single proven defensive presence. Yow.
I believe we can rename the 2015 Laker defense "the layup drill starts here."
The only thing Boozer will teach Randle is how to play bad defense, foul, and yell AND 1! after every shot. If Scott starts Boozer over Randle, he needs his head examined for a concussion.
uhhhhh no ty I'd rather have Randle start at least he'll be able to get back on defense. I don't see why boozer wouldn't be able to come off the bench _________________
starting lineup: Boozer, Randle, Wesley Johnson, Kobe, Lin
Bench: Davis, Hill, Henry, Young, Nash/Clarkson
Why boozer over hill in center? Both are 6'10. Lack defense. But 1 thing Boozer has over hill is he has a decent jumpshot. Therefore, he can spread the floor a lil better. With Boozer at Center, we can put Randle at the PF position and have hill back him up. And ed davis can be the backup center. I think this will be the best way to allot the minutes to each player.
I liked Boozer's responses. He seems really thoughtful and poised. I think he's a quality addition to the team. It's possible that like Pau, a change of scenery might do his game some good.
Scott wont have any issues choosing the starter. It will be whoever is playing better. _________________ Austin Reaves keeps his game tight, like Kobe Bryant on game night.
Let him show us he can play with big boys before promoting him to our next great big man status.
i think he's being hyped per usual, for a top 5 pick type of player (most think Randle is a top 5 player in this draft class)
top 5 picks come with all star expectations. the best way to groom a future all star, is all we want.
future all star is the hype here , not "next great Laker big man HOFer"

Bold prediction: Boozer makes the AS team next year... he's gonna have a very good year... probably better season then what Gasol gave us when he arrived... people seem to forget how good he was when he was with Utah.... Gibson and Noah basically held Boozer back in Chicago... he's gonna have more freedom to operate in L.A.

I find people who complain about some people's faith in Randle annoying. Like seriously, he was a lottery pick that should of gone probably top 5. He has shown potential. If he continues that into training camp why the hell shouldn't he start?
LOL. Goodness gracious. All-star? He lost his way out of the rotation because he couldn't play any defense to save his life. Gibson and Noah were a much better defensive pairing than any combination of players that Boozer played with during his time in Chicago.
I think he could be effective in limited minutes and against other teams 2nd units, but an All-star. I don't see it. He'll have to worry about competing for a starting position against a 19 year old rookie.

I'm not sure "bold" is the word you're looking for.
