|
|
Realistically I'm sure we all know the Lakers won't win it all this year.
But I was wondering, has there ever been a true Cinderella team in the NBA that won it all? You know, the Bad News Bears of the NBA...
The closest thing I could think of was the Golden State Warrior team that had a "center by commitee" but of course they still had Rick Barry on their team. The Lakers have Kobe at least.
Trivia Question: who were the three centers of the Warriors center by committee? Was it three or two centers? I'm getting forgetful! |

realistically lakers will be between 10th - 13th seed, this team just doesnt have enough, in case of a miracle they do make the 8th, will be humiliated by spurs like 2 years ago |

Mavs shocked the world by sweeping us then beating the heat in the finals, they were the underdog in each series |

From google:
The 1994–95 Houston Rockets, a sixth seed with a record of 47–35, were the lowest seeded team to win the NBA finals. In the NBA finals, the Rockets swept the Orlando Magic (57–25) in four games.
Closest to a Cinderella team based off seeding I suppose. But not really because of Hakeem. |

Mavericks 2011
Pistons 2004
But realistically its going to take a small miracle for this team to even make the playoffs this year in the loaded west. |

I know the 99 Spurs had the first pick and got the Duncan in the draft prior to that shortened season, but David Robinson was injured the season before. Were they seen as championship contenders before that season? |

Like Phil said. That season is an "*" because it was a shortened season. |

This might be a Cinderella team.

Do you think there will be a day when the 14th seed in a conference goes on to win the NBA title? |

Only way we even make the playoffs as an 8th seed is if Kobe channels 2006 Kobe and Randle plays as good as a prime Lamar Odom.
In other words we will be a 35 win team most likely. _________________ 16 |

Golden State Warriors 74-75 team. Rick Barry and a bunch of role players.
Jamaal Wilks rookie year. Are you starting to see similarities to this current Laker team. _________________ Started posting on Lakersground when it was lakers/rivals.com since Aug.2000. |

If we get hot at the right time like the 2011 Mavs we might do some damage. We don't have a bad team really. We might not have that second superstar but we do have depth and hopefully a chip on our shoulder. Everyone is bashing us left and right. Boozer got amnestied, Lin got traded alongside a pick for nothing, Clarkson slipped in the draft, and most importantly everyone is doubting Kobe and bashing him for his contract. I believe we'll be surprised by this team. If we get to the playoffs we would shut up a lot of these media hacks and then who knows what could happen. Hoping for the best. |

They had only 2 centers...
Starting was Clifford Ray who was 6'9", 230.
Back up was George Johnson who was 6'11", 205.
Their only power forwards were Derrick Dickey starting at 6'7" 218 and backup Bill Bridges at 6'6" 228 who was old and didn't play much.
Small ball certainly worked for them! For us it would be like starting Hill at C and Kelly as backup C. |

I'm trying to understand how you came up with that calculation. Duncan Parker and Manu doesn't produce the same stats they used to but the young guys chip in 8 Pts here 10 Pts there etc... This is very capable of doing that. Even if everybody had their same avg last season and Randle was only a 10ppg 6 Rebs player. Well be making the playoffs
Lin 13ppg 3rpg 4apg 1spg
Kobe 20ppg 5reb 5apg 1spg
Wesley 9ppg 4rebs 1apg 1spg 1bpg
Randle 10ppg 6rebs 2apg 1bpg
Hill 10ppg 7rebs
Bench
Boozer 14ppg 8rpg
Young 18ppg
Xavier 10ppg
Davis 6ppg 4rebs
Nash 7ppg 6apg
That's 55 Pts off the bench _________________ Coach Vogel, Kidd, Hollins

This team with the right coach/system and HEALTH not only can make the playoffs in the west but make noise too... I know i'm a team tanker but I honestly believe that. Again, health is the key. _________________ Whenever the Lakers benefit all of a sudden rules need to be changed and trades need to be blocked.
