Dude looks like a small forward one min then a center the next. His passing is very good.
He doesn't really have one. He's not a small forward by any means, and he's so over matched at center (even in the modern, largely center-less era) that he's not one of those, either.
I guess he's what we've recently decided to call a "stretch four." A big man who isn't big enough to really do true paint stuff but rangy and athletic enough to cause match-up problems for traditional bigs.
He's a good passer, a good shooter (and I expect his three-point shooting will only improve as his career wears on), has fair handles with decent hops/general athleticism. The downside is that he also doesn't have enough in his back pocket to really defend/box out traditional big men.
I guess these types used to be called "tweeners," but in the parlance of our times he's a "stretch four."

This team has some talent but it's gonna be hard to find mins for him. _________________ Coach Vogel, Kidd, Hollins

One comparison could be Boris Diaw. Most of the skill sets tell us he is a perimeter guy but has the length to be a PF. He has a better shooting stroke than Diaw but both create a lot of matchup problems because majority of PFs in the league have no clue how to guard a big who can shoot 3s and pass brilliantly whether facing the basket or posting up.

That's a good point. If it were just him and Randle (with Hill/Davis as alternates in big lineups) he'd be guaranteed some good minutes. Boozer complicates matters a bit, but probably in a good way since he's still a pretty effective NBA power forward.
I'm not really sure where his minutes will come from, but I like his game enough to think he's going to carve out some sort of niche for himself.
That said, Randle absolutely must get priority minutes. I think he might be a bit overrated here on LG (and probably pretty underrated elsewhere), but there's definitely something to his game.
The length-of-the-court dribble + Magic Johnson no-look-pass to Trey Thompkins the other night was a jaw dropper.

I was thinking Diaw as well. He played 3-5 in phx. _________________ Coach Vogel, Kidd, Hollins

He's got SF skills in PF height. PF is the best spot considering the footspeed.
I think, at 6'11 230, he can play some C too. He has underrated length and athleticism, and is a bit of a shot blocker when allowed to play defense in the paint. I think he's a PF/C personally. The same position as Dirk Nowitzki, which is his best and most obvious comp IMO. _________________ LakersGround's Terms of Service
Reminds me of Kevin Mchale, nowhere as talented yet, but hopefully he will get there.
I must have missed out on the 3 pt shooting McHale.
The only thing R. Kelly has in common with McHale is that they're both white.
Lets dial it back and shoot for him developing into a poor man's Ryan Anderson.

I see him as a watered down gasol in all of ways. Range on his shot excellent passer for a big man. High b-ball IQ. Maybe he could hit the weights add some lean mass and strength to pls center. But I see him becoming one of those long time role players for us.
