Hill will rebound, who will fly around on defense? Can I count on Xavier Henry, Wes Johnson or (gasp) Nick Young to do that? _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

This thread made me look up team stats from last year and found out that Lakers was dead last in both offensive and defensive rebounding. Wow! |

Spurs led the league in point differentials last season. Maybe there is a need to play some defense.
With no rim protector and a soft perimeter D, I don't see any real improvement on the defensive end. I do think that with a healthy Kobe, Lakers can score more points. |

Point differential is a far better predictor of success than PPG against. |

Lakers will average 97 PPG and give up 102 PPG. |

Who cares how many points we average? I care more about the points we give up every night!!!! As long as we are not giving up 110 points on regular basis, I will be happy. _________________ New Beginings |

I don't share (nor understand or envy) your threshold for tolerance of Laker accomplishment and failure.
I found a short handful of the league's season-to-season worst since 2009, teams who'd averaged over 105 ppg against, but none who's allowed an average of 110 points. Most of em:
Points against, season average:
2014 Nuggets 106.5
2013 Kings 105.1
2011 Suns 105.9
2010 T-Wolves 107.8
I hope we don't see our Lakers join that type of horror show. |

I don't think the new Lakers team can score 105 on average at all. On paper, it might seem like it, but I don't really think so. |

I think that was, for the most part, an offshoot of Dantoni's system or philosophy. Last year it seemed like we ended up being super paranoid at getting back on defense to prevent fast break layup/dunks. So no one crashed the offensive boards. Also didn't utilize big men in the post to anchor the defensive boards.
Hoping we get a coach who will emphasize rebounding on both ends. |

With no rim protector & soft perimeter D, I would forecast a pretty significant decline on the defensive end _________________ LBJ + AD = More rings

Our offense is not efficient enough to run and gun. We need to slow down the pace and get as many good attempts as we can. _________________ Don't let perfect be the enemy of good |
