If offered he takes the job. Pretty simple.

IMO Scott has been slightly disrespected and this is just another fiasco created by J. Buss. I just do not see this as Kupchaks method of doing things.

Buss seems to have no clue on how media and public perception impacts the Lakers. Seems like he is just off a step with reality. Things like firing long time Laker scouts and support people when he took over, the Howard billboard begging him to stay to this indecision with Scott.

Even if he has some super secret plan- handle it professionally. It would stop or at least slow down the current comments ridiculing the Lakers brand. Lakers need to control the commentary not let media and fans fill in the blanks.

That being said, we really do not know what went on with those interviews. We speculate. Perhaps Scott is perfectly fine with the process.

You don't turn down your dream job, even if you feel disrespected.

This. Not sure how to answer the poll.
Same here. Am I voting that he should take the job or turn it down? What did the other voters think they were voting for?

How dare they interview him for the head coaching job! So disrespectful!

Yeah, I think all coaches should be interviewed no less than 10 times before being hired. You can never be too sure.

Something is up...Mitch is working the phones and trying to get some sort of deal done because money cannot be the reason.

If it is then the Lakers are officially a joke. $100M profit and you're penny-pinching a family member?

I'm sure byron wants to get paid and is probably asking for something like 3 yrs $20M... and his reason is that guys like fisher and ker are getting $5M a year and they're rookies and he is an experience coach... and he probably wants a shorter term contract so if the team does good he can get a raise right after 2017 when teams will be making tons of money and the lakers will have signed some stars in 2016 so he would be coming off a successful season 2016-17 season...

the lakers on the other hand are probably upset that they're still paying mike brown and mike d'antoni this year and are also looking to establish something more long term and are looking to pay as least as possible so they're probably offering something closer to 5 yrs $25M...

thats my guess anyway...

just seems like a foregone conclusion that the lakers hire byron, its a money thing right now...

and I can't blame them. It's a waste of funds and in someways counter-productive to bring in another expensive ego. Kobe's is enough. Hire Madsen and let Mamba do whatever he wants.

Actually not a bad idea. Unless you can get someone like JVG or Doc, at this point in time, Kobe will just do what he did to MDA when the team was 18-25, essentially become head coach. I don't see B. Scott as having the gravitas with Kobe to keep him from doing whatever the hell he wants to do.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone seen/heard any negative comments from Scott about the delay in the process?

Any indication he is frustrated or feeling disrespected by the Lakers?

It has become absurd that the Lakers have not hired a HC yet. Scott or any other.

Not that I'm aware of. Last I heard from him was after the 3rd round of interview and he said its a wait and see game till otherwise.

I voted based off it reading: "Should he turn down the Lakers job?"

I'm guessing more than one person read it my way as well, even though the title says differently.

Which is why no one here really knows if he should take it.

First you need to know if an offer was made.

Then you need to know what the offer was.

Then you need to know what kind of an offer Scott is looking for.

Without the answers to those questions, I don't see how anyone can answer the question posed intelligently.

I don't get all the Jim Buss hate and the talk about disrespect. You guys have to remember that Byron still has a job with the Lakers at Time Warner Cable Sports and since all the coaching positions in the NBA has already been filled, there's really no hurry to fill the position until summer camp actually start. I'm sure there's a mutual understanding on this by both parties . All of you guys are basically feeding off of the ignorance spewed by the media because it makes for a good story.

From ESPN...

"The Los Angeles Lakers have offered their head-coaching job to Byron Scott, according to league sources.

The two sides are now in negotiations on a contract.

The Lakers made Scott a verbal offer on Thursday after Scott spoke with owner Jim Buss. Scott and his representatives are reviewing the Lakers' offer.

Scott, a former Lakers star who won three titles playing next to Magic Johnson, has long been the front-runner for the job.

The Lakers have been without a coach since Mike D'Antoni resigned at the end of April. Scott interviewed for the job three times, but the organization prioritized the draft and free agency over hiring a coach.

Scott received a key endorsement from Lakers star Kobe Bryant, who played with Scott as a rookie in 1996 and has maintained a close relationship with him since.

Information from ESPN.com's Ramona Shelburne was used in this report."

From his radio, feels like Bryon Scott has such passion to coach the Lakers. He said he knows what it means to wear purple and gold, and I agree with him 100%.

Another importantly thing is that him and Kobe mutually respect each other, and thats huge

Having a passionate coach is great for this team. If he turns it down it would be a great loss unless the Lakers can some how get Doc Rivers
