It feels like forever since we saw Kobe play. I for one, am very excited to see what mamba is going to do. He's going to exceed expectations for a bunch of people. _________________ Music is my medicine

If you think Kobe will return and exceed all expectations, this thread is for you.
I expect him to be at least a top 10 player in the league this upcoming season. On a team full of wild cards, he will be our 1 constant.
Here are some videos to get the rest of you excited!

I'm on board. I came to this late and haven't read any of the replies so I can say I'm in before the "realists" dump on Kobe again. _________________ “It took many years of vomiting up all the filth I’d been taught about myself, and half-believed, before I was able to walk on the earth as though I had a right to be here.”

I don't think Kobe will be a top 10 player in the league, but I do think he is going to exceed the expectations of all but the most die hard Kobe fans this year.
My prediction:
30-32 mpg
24 ppg on 46% shooting
5 apg
4 rpg
Hoping to take a chance on Kobe in my fantasy league as a late second round or early third round pick.

#1 first overall pick. Book it, I said booooooooooooook it!!
In his last game in Memphis, this was his stat line. Additionally, this washis best game by far in his return back from the Achilles.
33 minutes, 21 points 9-18 from the floor, 5 rebounds, 4 assists. This was a Kobe who I believe came back too soon and was heavier than usual because he didn't go through his standard 'blackout' regimen during the summer. He was also adjusting to the Achilles during that time frame.
Though, the sample size, his small, I found myself looking at those highlights at his game in Memphis. He didn't have quite the lift in his jump shot and wasn't as quick.
Those things you'd come to expect, though, that come with Kobe's age and mileage. What was impressive during that game is stuff as Kobe fans we all know; his postgame and footwork is simply the best in the NBA. He's able to finish using hook shots, floaters, etc that he's added to his arsenal. He'll be able to score when he gets back.
The key for Kobe and obvious to us is maintaining his health & minutes this year. When he's out there, he'll get his, and he'll attract double teams, get open shots for his teammates, and make the game easier for others. I'm optimistic about his return having gone through a full season of off training and really testing his body on the court this offseason.

Haha! If you're in a league with only the true die hards that post in this thread, that just might happen. :p

27/5/4. I think his assist numbers are going to go down but his scoring will be there. I dont know if hes going to be efficient as before. _________________ Don't let perfect be the enemy of good
I want a Kobe that doesnt feel the need to take 25 shots per game....A Kobe who realizes he is no longer a youngun, plays smart BB and doesn't try to do it all on his own. _________________ New Beginings
23/4/4, 46% FG, 33 MPG. 65 games played from Kobe this year. He won't play as many minutes as he use to with Young, Henry, and Clarkson coming off the bench. I also think Byron won't play him on some back to back games.
I expect three stages of kobe. First, introductory kobe. This is a warm-up, take-it-easy kobe with about 70% power for about 20 games. Second, intermediate level kobe, using 90% power for another 20 games. Finally, an advanced Kobe using full power for the remaining 42 games.
I can only hope that during the first two stages the lakers can hover around 40 to 50 percent winning record. During these stages, I hope the supporting casts will compensate the "lack" of kobe before gearing up in the final stage.
So folks, expect a lot of kobe bashings in the first half of the season. I do hope Kobe will be patient with himself and the team. He cannot afford another knee and probably a season-ending injury after a relatively long rest.
