Very unlikely I know, considering his basketball age ... but I think he can do it.
everyone is counting him out... but if there is one guy that can shut people up it's Kobe.... he's gonna do everything in his power to bring the Lakers back into success and being part of the MVP would be a possibility if he leads the Lakers into the playoffs while playing at a high level.
I hope this happens... it would make for a good story. |

How about next season, Wes Johnson suddenly becomes the 4th pick player he was supposed to be, and becomes the MVP. Even better story. One that can last a little longer than the Kobe story. |

I believe Kobe could put up MVP numbers offensively, but his overall game would not be as strong as would probably be needed to win the MVP. _________________ .....

It's the off-season. In two months or so, we'll have something new to talk about. |

What exactly would be interesting about it? Discussing the varying degree of 'cool' that it would be?
Like a poll?
- Not cool
- Just cool
- Above average cool
- Very cool
- Undoubtedly cool
- Cooler than cool |

I vote for really, really cool.
For Kobe to be an MVP candidate, he would need to put up big numbers (which is possible, if he bounces back in '13 form), he would need to be unexpectedly healthy (no more than 10 games missed), and the team would need to greatly exceed expectations (minimum of 45 wins, probably 50). It would also be necessary for none of the other preseason candidates (Lebron, Durant, maybe Rose) to have a big year on a team that wins 60ish games.
If that happened, it would be really, really cool. |

It would be one of the greatest achievements ever if that happened. I'm hoping it does. It'll make the season so much more interesting. _________________ Music is my medicine |

You must be a hater to vote for really, really cool. Why not astronomically cool?
And you know what I was thinking would also be cool? If Santa Claus were real. How cool would that be? I mean, if he were real, we might begin to understand how he gets those reindeer and that heavy looking sleigh in the air. And where does he put all of the gifts?
So cool. |

And then ran for President and won, and then solved all the problems in the mid-east and united all cultures, and then discovered intelligent beings from another planet, and then figured out how to fly at warp speeds to meet with them, and then got all the talking heads in our modern media outlets to shut their pieholes and ONLY say intelligent things, and then ............ and then ....... _________________ Never argue with stupid people! It would be super cool.
I don't know why some people here have to be such downers.
It's like talking about positive things, even if the chances are low, is like cooties to them. They hate positive talk.
If Kobe put up good numbers, and the Lakers got a decent playoff seed he'd be an MVP candidate. He wouldn't necessarily need to have crazy numbers. He'd just have to be a leader of the team that defies expectations. |

Kobe the MVP ? It seems beyond possibility, but it would be almost unimaginably cool and shockingly incredible. That accomplishment (a second MVP, and as the oldest winner ever) could stake him some renewed and even more powerful claim to a damned rarefied level of respect. |

For him to win the MVP, our team should finish at least in the top 3 in the Western Conference by the end of the regular season, correct? Looking at our roster, would you bet on our team finishing in the top 3?
One thing i've learned in my years of being a Laker fan is to never bet against the Mamba. It's just that i wouldn't trust this roster our FO have built around him. |

It would mean the Lakers would be around a 4th or 5th seed since there's no way in the modern era you can win MVP without a good record. So yeah, that would be cool. |

Well, if we had a roster that you could look at and think, "Yes. They could make the top 3." then he probably wouldn't win an MVP for getting in the top 3. |

And THEN he would be the GPOAL (Greatest President of All Time), but haters would still put him behind Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson and George Washington because BSPN would control their minds and tell them to. |

That would be amazing. I think Kobe is highly motivated. He's been getting unwarranted criticism since the extension. Melo rejected Kobe.. "Nobody wants to play with Kobe", he's too old, etc.
He's gotten plenty of rest and rehab and we know Kobe isn't lazy. |

If winning 45 or 47 games in the highly competitive WC with the likes of Smush, Khwame, Luke, etc., was not enough, don't expect any miracle with the current roster. _________________ Kobe's Top 5 Dunks, 81 points, MJ last gm @Staples |
