NBA knew what they were doing not having the Cavs play on opening night and have James vs MIA on Christmas. Bulls got plenty of love and the Clippers did as well.

Love when the schedule comes out.

I'm calling dibs on making the opening night Game Thread. Also when I'm available I'll try to do most Sunday Games. Usually get busy though just after the turn of the new year.

4 games in the first 5 days with two back to backs to start the season. F the NBA!

Are we really all that "long-in-the-tooth" anymore aside from Kobe and Nash? Gonna be time for local writers to find a new gimmick.

I am counting 40-45 very winnable games. If we overachieve at all this year I think we have a chance at the playoffs

Really? How many times have we seen the Lakers start and finish with the majority of their games at home? The schedulers have been really good to us over the years.

We definitely have an easy schedule. If we get a good system in place and good defensive system we can do some damage and get to 6th imo.

Could someone make an official Lakers 2014-2015 schedule discussion thread? I would, but I'm on a phone with limitations. I'd like to discuss the pro's and cons with others.

Based on what? I don't know how this strength of schedule business is very meaningful when teams within a conference play very similar schedules. It doesn't even factor in the true variables like home vs. road, injured opponents, days rest before games or things like that.

Early on I guess it could have some meaning if you have played all of your games against tough teams and have a weak schedule remaining but by the end, the SOS should all even out.

You know Kobe has the schedule in his hands and is saying...

"Dropping 30 on you...and you can get 40, and you 50. W, W, W, W, W...damn we can go 82-0. We are gonna shock the world!"

It's gonna be interesting to see how Lin does against his former team.... I can see him having a horrid game especially against his old team and also his first real game in a Lakers uniform... some guys might struggle early on.... it's up to the veterans like Kobe/Boozer to carry the load.

Jeremy goes into beast mode against former teams - he carved up the Knicks last season, I see him doing the same to Houston - blowing by PBev all game long.

We get four games in the first five days where the second game of the back to backs are away games. That's crazy. Yet it happens every damn year again!

Good call. Obviously they have to play the games but I'm guessing 44 wins just at first glance. With everyone beating themselves up out west I could actually see that as a good chance to slide in at #8. The 8-12 teams last year were: 49, 48, 40, 36, 34. I'm thinking it's more like 44, 44, 42, 40, 38 this year.

Hopefully we open with the Clippers again. Last season's opener with the bench going nuts was amazing.

LOVED IT!

Memories... Of the way we were...

(sigh)

The opener and the Steve Blake winner against Houston... Good times.

First 10 games are just brutal. I can see 3-7 (at best). Sigh. Why did the NBA try to screw this team with a new coach and so many new pieces?

I prefer a schedule that makes the team have to focus and take teams seriously right off the bat. They play with a healthy fear, know they have to play hard to win, and there's no chance they take their opponents lightly. See that 1st game against the Clippers last year. We could seriously go 4-0

Because the NBA is full of professional players and a challenge is always fun especially for this team.... if there thinking about winning it all they need to go through the obstacles to get there.
