Same fellas. I couldn't get it out of my head for the last day. |
With Game of Thrones only having 2 seasons left. This will be HBO's new must watch sci-fi show. Really enjoyed the pilot. |
I think this is planned to have 5 seasons. Hopefully it doesn't bomb like Rome (judging by ratings/reception, I don't think it will). _________________ Character

And I'm hopeful for it, because HBO has treated the show right. They've done re-shoots and re-writes. Hopefully w/ all that work they've crafted something special.
Can't wait to see where the storyline goes - what it's going to look like when these robots start 'coming to life'. The premise is super interesting to me. |

I watched the first episode and it was entertaining. Nothing special, but definitely promising.
Btw, a magnificent 7 remake, then a westworld remake...Yul Brynner is back! |

This show is great. Come on LG, let's get a thread going like season 1 of True Detective. |

This is one of the most brilliant new shows to come out in YEARS. It's really a sad indictment with how little traction it's gotten up in here compared to some the absolute dog-(bleep) people eat up.

I watched episode 2 and it was great. I loved the way the madam's flashback scenes were shot. It was horrible slaughter, but it was art, dammit.
To me the most interesting character is the man in black, played by Ed Harris. I want to know what he is after and what he is in the real world. WTF is the maze? |

The maze reminds me of Ready Player One. The game within the game that only the real nerds are worried about. |

Just a guess but the man in black is a rouge robot. The maze is a map that leads out of westworld. He is self aware and looking for a way out? |

One theory I like is that Hopkins created MiB to monitor the robots, create horrific memories, with the singular goal of creating self-awareness.
The caveat to this theory is that WW corp. would have to be unaware of this, which seems unlikely given their 100% effective monitoring system that captures literally every detail. So for them to be allowing MiB to do anything actually destructive to them seems far-fetched, thus I think it goes deeper than that. |

I haven't watched episode 2 yet. Episode 1 kept me interested. I'm hoping my lady friend (wife) will get hooked. It's always fun to be able to pause and discuss things about a show we're both invested in.
In HBO I trust. |

He's human. MiB can't be killed by the hosts and the Head of Security (Luke Hemsworth's character) explicitly says, "that gentleman gets what he wants".
Not sure what his motivation is, but if you think of the entire theme park as a "real life" mmorpg, it's clear that he's different from the other guests that are looking to sate their guilty pleasures. Instead, the MiB is looking for the game within the game, uncovering the easter eggs that the game's designers implicitly added within the game's constructs.
My guess is it has something to do with Dr. Ford's new expansion for the park. _________________ Character

******caution, episode 2 spoilers **********
Ooh, I like that. One of the things that mad me question the truth about Ed Harris was the scene where Thandie Newton (the Madam at the whorehouse) was having a flashback about her family getting killed and there was an indian at one point he kind of turned into Ed Harris somehow. Could be nothing, but I found that scene strange. |

For quite a while I avoided it because I thought the title was Waterworld. Luckily it's very new so I can catch up real quick when I get the chance. |

I'm really glad that the McPoyle brother is part of the present day timeline (as the ending to ep 3. revealed). There were theories after ep2 that he was just the MiB in his younger days and the producers would reveal that it was a flashback of some kind. |

This show is legit. If it continues this way for multiple seasons and doesn't suck like True Detective.... The Sopranos, The Wire, Game of Thrones, Westworld. Damn HBO. |

Another great episode. Learned a bit more about the Man in Black and next week he's gonna have a showdown with Anthony Hopkins.
As the show goes on Bernard (Jeffrey Wright) has become one of the better character son the show. very interesting and well acted. When the show started I thought he would just be your generic scientist type character, but I love how they've handled him.
My only complaint is McPoyle. I have nothing against him, but I just can't take him seriously. If you don't know who I'm talking about I advise against looking it up, lol. |

Eps 1, 2, 4, 5. sooooo geeewwwwwwdd
I'm feeling so many of the characters.
Real invested in Dalores, like where she's going. Meave's scene at the end of ep 4 with the bandit was aweeesome, super intriguing final scene this week! And I'm actually thinking the man in black is just trying to be a savior and I'm rocking with him now.! |

There wasn't enough nudity in this episode...
I really enjoyed the scene between Ed Harris and Anthony Hopkins. great stuff.
We learned a bit more about Dolores' past.
I'm really intrigued by this Arnold guy who helped create the park and seemingly nearly destroyed it as well.
Also, who the (bleep) put that uplink thingy into that hosts body? Corporate espionage? |
