If anyone reading this doesn't know much about ALS I think they should watch this video. This is what the ice water challenge is all about. It's about trying to raise awareness and money for the disease so we can save people like him.

I'd guess the ice bucket dumping appeals more to guys like Dwight Howard than Kobe... at this point it is exactly the kind of superficial attention getting gesture that would appeal to clowns like Dwight. That's a strange way of looking at it.
The fact is that ALS donations have gone through the roof. The only thing you should compare the donation amounts to is how many donations were coming in before this.

I don't mind the intent of the videos. That's not my point at all.
I find them pretty easy to avoid. I dont see what the problem is. If you cant avoid them because you're on facebook all day, then you have much more to worry about.

I hardly watch any. Not sure what's annoying about it when it's completely within your own control whether you view it or not.
(using "you" and "your" in a general sense. Not referring to you)
Sometimes it takes a gimmick to get people to participate and this is doing the trick. You have both celebrities and non-celebrities alike involved. For the non-celebrities they get 5 minutes of fame and if it is helping with donations, than it is working and as I understand it, donations are way up as a result. This was also started by someone with ALS.
