This is already known, but many find it hard to accept that Kobe is the GOAT. It's great to see many players of this generation recognizing Kobe....from big names like Durant, Wade, George, etc. to other players like JC, Jennings, etc.
Wooden already called it a while back though, and he is obviously Kobe's biggest endorsement as the GOAT.
But ya, sign this guy Mitch. |

Yep, the acronym Jennings was looking for would be GOTG.
Hmm, that doesn't look too appealing. How about Greatest of the 2000's:

GOAT stands for Greatest of All Time. So it cannot be used for any other time period other than all time. Jennings isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer. |

I'm willing to compromise with OOTGOAT (one of the greatest of all time) since there are just to many arguments for who can be the Greatest of all Time |

This. There isn't a definitive list, just a collection of the best to ever do it. Mj, Kobe, Kareem, wilt, big o, Duncan, bird, magic, shaq, Hakeem, and lebron james in any order. |

Yup. The indisputable GOAT basketball mind called Kobe the best he has ever seen (see my sig). Wooden said this well before his last days, when he still had a sound judgment intact.
I take Wooden words over the fanboys clutching their $500 MJs that mommy had to bust her tail to get for them... I will say this. I dont think there will be a more marketed and media-protected player than MJ again.
I said this before and I will hold this true today. Skillwise, Kobe edges out MJ (range, handles, playmaking, shot creation, getting white hot in an instance, 81..). Talentwise, MJ edges out Kobe (bigger hands, hangtime, hops, arm strength, better base). Defense is very close with Kobe being the better on-ball defender and MJ being the better free safety. Its very close, much closer than fanboys on both side want to admit. Kobe by slight margin wins since bball is and always will be skill first and talent right behind it _________________ Alltime lineup: Magic | Kobe | MJ | Hakeem | KAJ |

Hard to argue Kobe having worse casts when he had prime Shaq for 3 of his titles. Jordan didn't have a player like that.
That said Jordan had some really good teams himself, Pippen and Rodman were two of the best guys to put around MJ (weren't potent scorers and both were better defenders/rebounders). Both had great teams, both also dealt with some awful teams. |

I can remember countless times the nba analysts ex coaches and everyone else talking about how shaq should have more rebounds and needs to instill his will on the defensive side of the ball as well. Early in Kobe's career, he went hard on both ends all the time. |

That's fundamental, though. Center is big, smalls scurry around and settle for jumpers more often. Big Center is a scratch, smalls are told to attack the rim. Think Mark Eaton. Not even all big centers are imposing with that advantage. _________________ GOAT MAGIC REEL

No. Just stating he had a valid point. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

Some experts here will (actually some already did say) say Brandon is not the sharpest tool. LMAO.
20 plus pages later, mr moderator will have to close this thread for good after another heating war of words.
The words of the comedian (on Wooden's opinion) are like the paints in the arsh. _________________ Kobe's Top 5 Dunks, 81 points, MJ last gm @Staples |

This.
Kobe wasted the BEST years of his athletic prime with players like Smush Parker, Kwame Brown, Sasha, Luke Walton. It's a miracle he led that team to the playoffs and actually had a 3-1 lead in a series. That is how good this guy was. Imagine what he would have done with MJs Bulls.
It took a mid-season trade for an all-star caliber player for Kobe to turn the Lakers from a below avg team to a team who made 3 straight finals in a difficult western conference.
Also, Jennings comment about Kobe changing the mentality of players today is not talked about enough. _________________ 2008-2010 Finals. 28.9 PTS 6.1 REB 5.4 AST 2.1 STLs |
