Asked about Kobe’s value on the market, one GM answers definitively: “Zero. Look at that number. Who takes him?”
Total Disrespect ? I think so. |
Guy has 2 years left at 24 million? why would anyone do that outside of He's Kobe? if a GM is really serious about building a franchise you dont do that unless you just want fans in the seat, if you want a long term plan, his value is nothing. IF he was 30 years old, then its a different story. hell even 32. |

Then I think you're totally being biased. An aging star after a major surgery with a massive contract? Numbers just don't add up. Nothing against Kobe, but shelling out that kind of money needs a justification in terms of future performance, not past. |

People need something to be outraged about (see recent current events), and websites need hits. What better way to scratch both itches than to write a negative Lakers piece? |

Stop posting Kelly Dwyer's (bleep) on here. That dude knows exactly how to get hits. He's been doing it for years. Post a negative Kobe article and sit back and relax for the clicks |

Kobe is rightfully retiring a Laker. Not much to see here unless Kobe demands a trade, which I doubt.
Mitch will have to work around it to the best of his ability. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

For what it's worth, there was also an anonymous GM who said he would offer Kobe the max before Kobe signed this current one. _________________ Kobe |

It's "zero" because the Laker FO themselves would never trade him. |

If Kobe demanded a trade to Team X today, I bet a lot of Team X GMs would be scrambling to make it happen.
Now if you're a championship contender or a young team with a bright future, it's not worth gutting your team to get a guy that's only planning on playing two more years.
But if you're pretty much any other team, you're telling me you turn down one of the greatest players in NBA history, who was arguably playing his best basketball before his Achilles injury? Plus, from a business standpoint, that's guaranteeing a sell-out every home game plus merchandise sales through the roof. _________________ Double rings > Double rainbow |

36 years old...2 years $48 million....hell no I wouldn't touch him....Jeannie gave him the contract because the Lakers needed to sell tickets and they weren't getting any star FA's.
Any GM that would consider trading for him without watching him play first should be fired on the spot. |

You guys do realize that Kobe is going to sell out every game, no matter how crap we are, since these are his last 2 years. Also, if he were to change teams, everyone is going to buy his new jersey. He would bring home 2-3x his salary without a problem.
The GM here is either an idiot or a hater. |

A GM who makes trades based on potential jersey sales won't be a GM for very long. |

it's not absolute zero. quick, name the only team that has the cap space for kobe's contract that needs one more BIG time player to complete their win-now championship run and wouldn't care about the fact that he is 36 coming off of 2 horrendous injuries....the houston rockets LOL. dwight, harden, kobe, ariza! LOL
....okay, maybe it is worth zero. philly has cap room for kobe's contract. lower merion baby! |

I think that is the basis of the comment, any team would have to really scramble to make the finances of a Kobe trade work. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |
