Why do you think that? Goodell had this footage from the beginning.

The NFL claims they didn't see the footage until today.

Really! Link?

The league’s PR department said this morning, hours after TMZ published the video, that no one in the NFL office had seen the video before.

“We requested from law enforcement any and all information about the incident, including the video from inside the elevator. That video was not made available to us and no one in our office has seen it until today,” the league said in its statement.

I practice law in NJ, and have had to ask for surveillance tapes from the cops. In Atlantic City, they have a unique little fiefdom there where the casinos have de facto police powers. They do not give up surveillance tapes and will fight it when subpoenaed. Not sure if the NFL tried to get it through legal processes, but it seems they asked, the request was rebuffed, and the Commissioner played "dumb" a bit and made his decision without the aid of the tape.

Casinos/hotels in AC are very protective of their surveillance security.

So somebody was sitting on this video for almost five months?

Edit- Oh, well of course. I guess the hotels fight so they can't be held liable for stuff or...?

Maybe. Not sure how "hard" the NFL went after the video.

Thanks KD. What's the league going to do now? Ray's done 1 games. Will they add 5 to it? It's a first offense so banning shouldn't be a option.

Even been to Orange NJ? It's six miles from Newark, Shaq's place of birth.

Yeah. Sorry, but as someone who grew up in LA, Jersey is a trashy place (and my 2 kids were born here too...so take it at that).

I'm not a fan of the Ravens by any stretch, but I applaud this move. I also hope that the other 31 teams follow suit and don't offer him a chance in the NFL this season. He can have his second chance, I just think his actions warrant missing this season even if Goodell didn't do it.

Hopefully he can take this team to make things with right with his wife and kids.

I am definitely in the "do not ever lay a hand on your gf/wife" no matter what, no excuses camp.

But I know women who intentionally poke, prod and provoke their husbands because they think can get away with it. Some even lay down beatings which the men cannot counter in any way.

If you're a man, what are you supposed to do?

Find another woman.

Yeah in quite a bit of the state. However there are some very nice areas there. Many with Mafia connections live there.
