I have enjoyed every minute of my time at ESPN. Thank you so much.

Please 710, do not replace him with Ben Lyon.

as much as I found his voice annoying for radio, I think he went out with class especially with his last segment

From what Steve Mason said, it sounds like ESPN let Willard go and want to take that show in a different direction.

I enjoyed Willard and Mychal Thompson together, hopefully they get a good replacement.

Really sharp guy. Knows his Lakers (after all Lakers flag station). Not sure though how he could do that and the Lakers job together, probably impossible.

Totally agree, I was one of the few who thought he was alright, I thought he had a wide knowledge of sports and was never a douche to his listeners when they called in like Kellerman.

With Jim Rome's show back in LA on the newly flipped 980AM sports station, maybe they finally decided to change things up. The way the show sounded yesterday was reminiscent of the last daze of McDonnell-Douglas where you could cut the lack of energy between the hee's and ohjoe's with a (bleep) defibrillator.

It would be interesting if Steve Hartman found a way to get back into the fold.

Best of luck to Mark Willard, I actually found myself mindlessly listening to the banter while stuck in traffic. Thought it was tolerable and hope that MW will find a new gig soon.

That would be a wise decision. He's been doing a lot of filling in lately.

NO THANKS on Ben Lyons... east coast d-bag

Good riddance. I've stopped listening to him for the past month. What the (bleep) were they thinking bringing in a Bay Area douche to LA radio? It's like bringing Bill Simmons to a NY show. I LOVED Trudell the times he worked with Mychal. Hope they bring him on and axe Ben "name dropper" Lyons next.

He'll be fine, if John Ireland can do double-duty, Mike can definitely do it.

No. He was a douche. Never talked about the Doyers and always bragging about his kids and his Manhattan Beach house.

Steve Hartman just completed his first month at XTRA 1360 Fox Sports San Diego, so don't look for him to return to L.A. radio. Mark Willard could be heading for KFWB. The new P.D. is Owen Murphy who worked previously for ESPN in Seattle.

I like Mike Trudell, although at times he seems too egocentric and his sports knowledge is limited. He doesn't know much about college football (USC) or baseball (Dodgers). Then again 710 does talk mostly Lakers, so Mike Thompson might decide to give him a chance. Most likely it will be Dave Joseph replacing Mark.

He probably didn't talk Doyers much because he's a San Francisco native and a SF Giants fan. Also Doyers talk is very limited on 710 because of the fear of management of helping rival 570

exactly. Huge mistake to bring him in. Max is a douche too but, it's more tongue-in-cheek.

I like Trudell a lot ... especially with the chasm-sized vaccum that formed with the passing of Chicky Baby. He's knowledgeable, classy, has immense passion for the game and is the best interviewer I've seen associated with the Purple and Gold since ole Golden Throat was doing his pre-game and halftime interviews back on K-Cal 9 in the 80's.

How the Lakers ever got stuck with Billy Mac and John Ireland is perplexing given somebody of Trudell's ability and availability.

At least they let say good-bye. Often it seems like they complete change shows and the people on air act like nothing is amiss.

And yes, please don't put on Lyons. He brings nothing to the table other than a disgusting sense of smugness.

On PMS, Petros mentioned how one time before interviewing Willard, Mark ... who was wearing a SF Giants jersey ... asked Petros to please not mention it since they were going to be talking baseball.

Of course, the first thing Petros says after introducing Willard is, "So what's up with that Giants jersey you're wearing?"

Damn, was hoping for a Loose Cannons reunion. Hartman and MT were great (of course VTB contributed to the dynamics as we'll).

Wasn't initially a fan of Willard going back to his days on 1540, but he's grown on me as of late. Yeah, he's an admitted Bay Area native and Giants fan, but he was always objective and impartial when talking Dodgers. Best of luck to him and I'm sure he'll land another gig.

Curious as to whom they'll get to replace him.

I like Trudel. Knows the Lakers clearly, and knowledgable about other sports as well. Smart like Max in ways...And not a smug, ass like him either.
