The Lakers have drafted and grown their own mega star PG, SG, and SF. But they have yet to draft and grow their own PF and C. We've probably had the best group of C's to ever play the game, but we didn't draft or grow them.
I'd love to finally see the Lakers draft and grow a generational transcending PF. A Tim Duncan level talent. It's the only piece that we've never had. _________________ “There are no limits. Elgin Baylor? #1 Draft pick in 1958 for the Lakers
27.4 ppg, 13.5 rpg, 4.1 apg career averages. Oh wait, maybe Baylor is a SF.
How about James Worthy? He played some PF.
George Mikan at C? |

I think this season will entirely depend on randle if he becomes 25+ ppg and 12 boards per game player. Than the lakers are set |

I am a big supporter of Randle. I just don't think he has the game to AVERAGE 25 ppg. I could be wrong. Maybe he could do it eventually because of the lack of skills needed to be dominant in this era. But I don't see him being the central hub in which we operate through. I hope he proves me wrong. _________________ “There are no limits. There are plateaus, but you must not stay there, you must go beyond them. If it kills you, it kills you. That is setting the bar pretty high, don't you think? Those are current K. Love All-star stats.
Just for comparison.
- K.Love rookie season 11pts/9 reb... 2nd year 14pts/11reb
- Z. Randolph rookie season- only 6mpg...2nd year-8pts/5reb 3rd- 20pts/10reb on 38mpg though.
- L. Aldridge- rookie 9/5... 2nd 18/7.5 ... 3rd-18/7.5
- A. Davis rookie 13/8.5 and 2nd - 21/10
I like Randle and think he can develop into a great player for the Lakers. But he will need to add a consistent mid range jumper to score in the 20's. I would be thrilled if he could be in the 14pt/8reb range this year.
Anything more would be amazing for a rookie! But a little patience is going to be needed. |

i don't care what position they play I just want another home grown star. Randle and Clarkson both have what it takes to get there and I believe they can do it |

Since 1989, only 79 out of 280 total Lottery picks even made 1 All Star team - much less became a top 10 player.
That's about 28%...so, only 1 in 4 Lottery picks will make even 1 All Star team.
From 2000-2010, 32 out of 140 Lottery picks made either an All Star or All NBA team - or about 22%
In simpler teams, 3 out of every 4 Lottery picks will NOT even make an All Star team.
expecting Randle to become a 25ppg 12rpg in his ENTIRE career is betting long odds indeed.
Expecting him to do it as a rookie in the stacked West is the highest form of fantasy _________________ LBJ + AD = More rings

This. Right now we need a homegrown mega star at any position. |

Those numbers are hard to interpret. A lot of those players were drafted based on projected potential. I think Randle was picked based on current skill level and his accomplishments. |

The OP's memory is rather short. Both Rudy LaRusso and AC Green were classic power forwards, and both were drafted and kept as Lakers for near a decade each. Elden Campbell stayed equally long as LaRusso.
Though not vying for all-time great status across the league, these guys were strong players. I won't be surprised to see Randle drive his truck down a similar road for us, if he chooses to stay. |
