We know Kobe will be mentoring randle on the court, but it might be a good idea for Kobe and randle to get some intimate one on one time together off the court.

We are starting to see that successful teams tend to have guys that also enjoy each others company both on and off the court. Forging bonds outside of basketball tends to translate to success on the court.

Would be kind of cool to see some of our players having a pregame ritual of kissing each other on the cheek like isiah and magic use to do.

I don't follow these guys much off the court. Do The Spurs players hang out together much off the court? I think LeBron and Wade would be the best example as they won two titles together, but other than that I only know of the Clippers and Chris Paul trying to arrange buddy buddy time with the team off the court. The Clippers haven't faired too well in the playoffs with CP3.

I am not opposed to the idea, just wondering if it holds weight.

It's not going to happen. A 36 year old, married with kids isn't going to be spending much time hanging out with a 19 year old.

I'm sure they'll work out together. I'm sure there will be dinners on the road. Beyond that? Probably not very much simply because their lives couldn't possibly be more different.

It would be like Kobe hanging out with Jerome Kersey in 1997. No.

this. even if they try. i don't know if they can connect well. bryant can go with the team off on off-court activities and pick up the tabs . just like us going out inviting the boss - expecting him to pick up the tab. lol.

Always a fan of a random Jerome Kersey name drop here and there. And agreed, I don't care whether or not they can or should hang out off court. On the court they better quickly get on the same page and Randle better learn as much as he can from Kobe before he retires.

Yes. They can hang out at the local diner and share a root beer float (1 float, 2 straws).

I skimmed the 1st post and this is what I saw:

"Kobe... Randle... intimate off the court...
enjoy each other's company...
... pregame ritual of kissing..."

Kobe is 36, married, with two kids that are closer in age to Randle than he is. No, they aren't hanging out, nor do they need to.

Kobe is an introvert. Besides hanging out with his family and working out, I doubt he hardly ever even comes out the house!

If I were Clarkson I'd be trying to spend as much time around Kobe as possible. This kid is legit. Watching full games of him from college now. He killed so. Illinois. Kid is fast as lighting with a sick cross over

I don't think they'll hang out off the court but I hope Randle spends a lot of time around Kobe picking his brain.

Doing things like sitting next to him on the plane, watching film, working out together in the weight room, and stuff like that would really benefit Randle.

Unlike someone like Dwight Howard, Randle seems very willing and open to learning from Kobe.

Hopefully Kobe takes this kid under his wing and mentors him so that in a couple years he can pass the torch onto him.

As long as they perform well on the court, they can do whatever they want in their spare time.

An 18 year old Kobe Byrant came into the league unconcern with all the distraction that is the NBA. 17 seasons later, he is the Mamba. If Randell wishes to create a similar legacy, he should turn inwards and focus on improving as a basketball player. Or he could just be some guy we drafted back in 2014...what was his name again?

How high is the court? If they're hanging off it together then that sounds kinda dangerous
