Have to agree with all the individual moments mentioned and probably a 100 more.
But for my quintessential Laker memories that define the team for me.
- Kareem in his bug eye goggles shooting his skyhook
- Kobe hitting his baseline jumper with defenders all over him
- Magic's smile
- Chick's voice |

Does anyone have have pictures or video of kobe holding the trophy like it was his first born child? I think it was during the 2008 or 2009 finals were they ran some pictures of the players holding the trophy and Jeff van Gundy made a comment about it. He said it looks scary the way kobe is looking at that thing like it was the only thing that mattered to him. I've looked everywhere for this and I can find it. That image would be perfect in front of staples center. No one has wanted to win more than kobe. |

- Rookie Magic hugging Cap after he hit the game-winning shot in game 1 of the season.
- Cooper lying on the floor in shock after HOU knocked us out. (it's not necessarily one of my "favorite" moments, but it was definitely one of the most memorable/intense)
- Cap running down the Garden floor in '85, smiling and shaking his fists to the bench.
- Magic's baby sky hook (greatest bucket in LAL history, imo)
- Kobe-to-Shaq
- Horry's shot (thanks Vlade)
EDIT:
I'd like to add Magic hugging Cap after breaking the all-time scoring record with the sky hook (Buck dropped the dime). _________________ Everything. Changes.

Well topic is image so the images in my head are :
Riles and magic running off a mobbed court after hanging on vs Detroit in 88
Kobe jumping into Shaqs arms in 2000 after buzzer sounds
Horrys 3 and subsequent look toward his teammates vs Sacramento after the perfect swish
Magic being hugged by Coop after beating philly in 80 after playing C and winning MVP |

Mine is a bit different. It still happened on the court but it was not during a game. It's Jerry West congratulating the Lakers after dispatching the Spurs in the 2008 WCF. More specifically, Jerry congratulating his two proteges: Kobe and Mitch. For the previous 4 years, both guys were heavily criticized in the media and Jerry would support his boys no matter what. I also liked this moment because it was the culmination of a year where both Kobe and Mitch stepped out of some long shadows. Kobe showing he can lead a team by himself and Mitch showing that he was more competent GM than people give him credit for. _________________ *sighs*

The entire celebration after beating the Celtics in the 10 finals. Seeing Kobe on the announcer's table saluting the crowd, Pau crying with joy, Bynum and Artest hugging it out, etc, is always going to stay with me. It was only 4 years ago, but it feels like a freaking eternity.

Magic Johnson, as a 20 year old rookie, starting at Center for KAJ (ankle sprain) in game 6 of the 1980 NBA Finals. Magic played all 5 positions in that game, scoring 42 points, grabbing 15rbs, with 7 assists - closing out the 76'rs to win the championship. _________________ LBJ + AD = More rings

"Horry, for the win!!!!!" vs the Kings.
My neighbor called my house when he hit that shot because she thought I was getting attacked in a robbery or something.
----
NVE vs Boston, his buzzer beater.
----
Kobe's 63 vs Dallas. Best game I've ever seen by a player in my life. I'll never forgive Phil for benching him for the fourth. He could have gotten 90 in that game. |

For me, it's Magic's junior skyhook against the C's. It will be the one indelible image that will forever remain in my memory bank.
I'd also add Magic's penchant for high-fiving and hugging it out with his teammates. His enthusiasm and will to win was contagious throughout the team. He even got Kareem to lighten up over the years-- which was a feat in itself. _________________ The butter's hard and the eggs are chillin' in the dark.

These two and Dr Buss signed Magic to a 20-year 20-million dollar contract!
Dodgers: Joe Ferguson stepped in front of his teammate making the catch and threw out the A's runner at home.
Kings: Miracle on Manchester. |
