But he was clearly no longer in his prime at that time. He was probably one of the better perimeter sidekicks and allowed Kobe to not divert energy defending. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals
Kobe can do without a lesser Pippen because of his overall better skills than MJ. So, a prime Artest or a prime (and healthy) Grant Hill would do. Pippen was a monstrous defender and great ball handler under triangle. MJ would have kissed his 6 rings good bye without him or with a lesser Pippen.
A prime Artest which was about 06 with the Kings avg 19/7/3. He would have been the perfect compliment to Kobe because of his great defense and ability to score if Kobe was out of the game. Better fit with Kobe then T-Mac or Grant Hill.

Kobe can do (and have proven so) with lesser Pippens.
We don't know that MJ would have gotten his rings but the same is true for Kobe without Shaq or Pau. Can't go back and change history...
I think in today's nba... kawhi leonard. How he can both overpower you with his body, Uber all around athleticism, even those giant hands he has to just jam it on the opponents. Versatile and got that great all around game like pippen.

We already watched Kobe won with a far lesser than prime Artest. MJ was always with ever improving and prime Pippen in his 6 rings. _________________ Kobe's Top 5 Dunks, 81 points, MJ last gm @Staples

Don't know why that proves anything. MJ/Kobe are surefire top 10 all time players. I absolutely agree that MJ without Pippen does not win a ring, let alone 6. But Kobe without Shaq/Pau couldn't win either. Great players like MJ/Kobe all had great supporting casts. I don't see why it's a knock on Jordan that he had Pippen as much as people try to knock down Kobe for playing with Shaq. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals
I'd say KG if you paired these two up starting in like 1998. Watching old man KG the past few years, I think people forget how versatile he was, and had to be, playing for the Minnesota Timberwolves. Dude was playing 1-4 regularly, and played point guard regularly. I get why people say Lebron, but to me the fact that he is a "Super" Pippen means that he's too good to "just" be a Pippen. Kobe and Lebron would essentially be an equal partnership akin to Batman and Superman rather than Batman and Robin, which is what people think of when you think of Jordan and Pippen.

One thing grant hill was great at for a sf was handling the ball and initiating the offense, just like pippen. Ron was a terrible ball handler
Not getting TPrince with that KRush draft pick (A player many speculated to the Lakers, because in college he was a deadly shooter... lengthy, could play the 3 spot... Cost the Lakers probably about 3 titles.)
Kobe on TPrinces team, not against him in that DTown series would have been interesting.
Stephan Jackson hands down! Had the same passion for the game as Kobe Bean. Good defensive player at 1.5 steals per game. Hit big shots down the stretch. Only knock on him is the low FG percentage. Always wanted him on the team after the Spurs let him go in 2003.

Carmelo Anthony. He could've been here too, for the small price of Andrew Bynum! _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better”
i don't know if it would have been a "pippen" type of player but i thought the perfect teamate for kobe would have been KG.... he said he would have pushed harder and had a chance to come here but the termoil with kobe having asked for a trade and all that kept him from coming...
i think the deal was LO and bynum for KG... so we still could have done the kwame and parts for PAU...
