Hey LG family,

I'm getting ready to upgrade my cell, and just wanted some feedback on new phones on the market. I know it all depends on what you need it for. I really do not play games on my phone, but I do stream a lot, browse constantly, and need a quality camera (why I will not be buying the HTC one M8 due to such poor reviews of their camera 4mp).

Any recommendations? thanks ahead of time

The camera on it is amazing though.

Nokia Lumia 1520

Awesome camera. Streamlined people-centric interface.

There is a lack of apps and games when compared to Android or Apple phones though. You will find the vast majority of apps, but they tend to get to Windows Phone later. For games, there are some which you may never see. Like Clash of Clans and Bejeweled Blitz aren't on it.

But yeah... if you want a great camera, it's one of the best out there.

The Lumia 1020 actually has the best camera out there, but it's a little older than the 1520, and the camera is a little slower. It's 41 megapixels, so the processing takes a second or two, so you can't quickly snap multiple pictures.

I just upgraded my Verizon account. I got, free, the HTC One® remix.

I'm not a smart phone person but I'm having a ball learning all the nuances of the smart phone. I don't use the Internet via cell, I may start.

I waited until I could get the free phone and keep my LG Extravert. I can go back to my old phone because I didn't have to turn it in to get the new free phone.

Take your time, use the 14 day trial wisley. I don't have to worry about the trial, I'm locked into the contract. The phone is mine. I can go to my Extravert without consequences.

This is the phone I'm going to get next. Unfortunately, I have to wait until the end of November to qualify for my upgrade. Still, this phone is available for $100 (w/ contract) at Amazon and Best Buy and is considered amongst the best Android phones out there.

As for the OP, I'd recommend buying the best phone you can afford. I wouldn't go with a budget phone at all because you'll end up regretting it later. I went with a free phone 2 years ago and regretted it almost immediately. This time around, I'm getting the phone I really want.

You know I'm not an Apple guy in the least but I played around with my sister's and I didn't notice any flex...at least with the 4.7" one.

You can order a repair kit now for the iPhone 6:

The new Blackberry Passport (cue all the jokes about the ancient Blackberry).

The specs are pretty great. Some of their business features are awesome. Their new touch keyboard is pretty cool.

Unfortunately, I'm still tied to an iphone 5s contract so I won't be able to order one for awhile.

Yep. My 1520 is hands down the best phone I've ever owned. Best video viewing experience with the true LED screen as opposed to the AMOLED like all the rest. And the 150GB of storage (w/MSD card)is just awesome. I keep full seasons of TV shows, as well as a couple dozen movies, on the phone - so it's always at the ready anytime I'm stuck somewhere needing to pass time. I'd suggest this phone to anyone.

I see we're on the same wavelength, as usual... 4.7" is awfully precise measurement, yes?

Get an iPhone 6+, sit on it for a while! and then let me know if it bent at all so I can make my own decision.

I switched from an iPhone to the BlackBerry Z10 when it came out last year and I have not been bored with it yet. The new Passport is pretty sweet as well. And when 10.3 gets released shortly it'll make all the BB10 phones that much better. BlackBerry is definitely worth considering.

That passport looks too wide. Hard to hold in one hand wouldn't it?

Yeah, it would probably be a little difficult to hold in one hand and use your thumb to swipe on the screen. On the other hand, I was pretty damn impressed by their touch-enabled keyboard.

Thanks for the heads up - Will check it out. I'm honestly just hoping the iPhone 6/6+ and Note 4 drive down the prices on the other good phones.
