I'm here for the semester. I'm surprised by the lack of good food in this city. Maybe I have unreasonably high standards since the two cities I've spent the most time in have been Los Angeles and New York City, but I didn't think it was possible for any decent city to simultaneously lack good Asian food, Mexican food, and pizza. The Chinatown is an absolute joke. Surprisingly, that's where the Wizards play their games.
Museums are fantastic but I'd imagine they would get old after a while. Over half the city is pretty much off-limits due to crime.
I've enjoyed my time here a lot but would probably never live here. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

Great girl to guy ratio in DC. If you can't lose your virginity there you might as well join a monastery.
Also has an AIDS rate higher than Rwanda, Sierra Leone, and Ethiopia...
Well, at least they are finally concentrating on domestic aids rather than foreign aids... _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel
I used to live in Georgetown when I lived in DC. It's a relatively small city, and as you mention, a sizeable amount is ghetto. It's also not ethnically diverse. It's about as black and white as you can get, so you're not going to find good Asian or Mexican food. It's a great place to visit, but not the best place to live.

I seriously feel like anything not in the Northwest quadrant or around the Capitol itself are ghettos. Hell, even relatively safe areas in NW like Columbia Heights or Adams Morgan are sort of sketchy at night. Really only the Georgetown/Dupont Circle areas feel safe. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:
