Rome can kill at least 9 different ways from that fetal position he was in. He had 'Chris' right where he wanted him until the crew intervened.

Rome is such a D-bag. Someone needs to edit the video so the sound DOESN'T cut out and you hear Rome scream as he hits the floor and at the same time shart his pants.

True, real story. I got VH1-Classic Morning Video Block on in the background as I see this thread for the first time. (I love old videos from my yute, I'm getting old...I hear ya, Kob...). Anyway, you know the song playing right as I type? Mama Says Knock You OUT!

I think that was the song pounding in Chris Everett's head while he was sitting in the green room that day. Damage! UHHH! Damage! UHHH! Damage!....

I remember seeing this when it happened, I'm pretty sure Rome was replaying it for ratings. He fetal'd up, but ratings was ratings. It's like Belzer milking the Hulkster incident as much as he could.

I watched this live. Sports talk media personalities have only gotten more opinionated. Its a shame we don't see more pummelings on camera.

The best part about this was Jim Everett's facial expression during the scuffle. He looked calm and pretty much looked like he knew this was going to happen way before he told him he would. There was some rumor that it was staged. I don't know, pretty damn funny even 2 decades later.

Wouldn't be surprised if it was setup for the cameras. ESPN2 was only launched a year before I believe. Back then they used to show sports that is out of the mainstream and did things a bit different than the main ESPN channel.

I would subscribe to cable again if they had shows where fans beat up sports media personalities.

By the way, like or dismiss tennis of any kind, Chrissy Evert was a winner. She was probably pissed at her name being used to refer to Jim.

Who? Jim Everett? Or Rome?

True Story: I most probably became a 49er fan when Jim sacked himself in the 1989 NFCCG.

Yeah, she was a steely eyed competitor. Her father pushed her pretty hard and they had some hard times. I can see that happening with me to a lessor degree. But at the end of the day, she's lived an extraordinary life. Her father, much like Richard Williams, was the fuel behind that life. I'll take a few hard feelings for greatness for my girls.

I too saw it live on ESPN 2. Damn! 20 years ago. I'm feelin' old. It's like all I got to look forward to now is heart disease, Rogaine and Viagra.

Jim Everett I didn't realize it was not referenced in my original post.
