How can you call a city that was the first to start 5 Black players in NBA history racist? _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.

I've never understood how a city with such liberal politics can also be racist. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

I think we have to learn to separate politics and race.
Contrary to popular believe, many Conservatives aren't anywhere close to racist and many Liberals are. In both philosophies, the vast majority of people are not racist, but there are a decent amount in both (or just everywhere in general) to warrant oversight.
I think in general, Liberals just do a much better job at marketing themselves.

Probably one of the best posts I've seen on this site for a long, long time. _________________ It's winnin' time!
Maybe due to the large Irish population of Boston? Here's a quote from maybe the best single volume history of the Civil War "Battle Cry of Freedom"by James McPherson:
Quote:
Competing with free blacks at the bottom of the social order, Irish Americans were intensely anti-Negro and frequently rioted against black people in northern cities.
And this tradition of racism has been passed on to the likes of Bill O'Reilly. _________________ “Properly read, the bible is the most potent force for atheism ever conceived.”

Oh this x 10000. I'm so glad you said it.
I think what a lot of liberals don't realize, is that when they get on their high horse about how we have to help this group and that group, they're basically stereotyping that group in a negative way. It's as if, we must help them because they cannot help themselves.
That's racism, it's just white collar racism so to speak.

Yup, that's exactly it. If racist liberals would just back off, black folks would eventually learn to stop being pulled over, harrassed, beaten, shot, arrested, convicted, and incarcerated at enormously higer rates than whites. They would learn how to stop being denied voting rights, employment, and all manner of other opportunities. They need to learn that just because you have neither the voting numbers nor the institutional power, the people who oppressed you and continue to try to do so only do that because of racist liberals.
Conservative America is merely waiting for the racist liberals to be stopped, and then equality will reign. They truly want gays to marry, and women to have reproductive rights and equal pay for equal work. They just don't know how to allow these things until no one comes to the defense of these groups. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. There is an old legend that Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis nearly had a secession agreement, but when Lincoln insisted the south must take Boston, Davis knew war was inevitable. _________________ “We must always take sides. I've lived here for almost 20 years and the majority of people I've known and met were not racists. In fact, quite the opposite. Maybe I need to hang out in bars with old white men talking about the past while the rest of the modern world here passed them by. No doubt racism and ignorance exists here just as it does everywhere. That cartoonist obviously has issues. But stereotyping an entire population of a city and labeling them all racist is ignorant.

Linda is right. It's pretty wrong to call all citizens of Boston racist.
So we'll just stick to Celtic fans.
Linda is absolutely correct in that it's unfair to call everyone within a city a racist. And I don't think anyone is saying that everyone in Boston is racist.
But Boston has a well established reputation in that regard - and it's not just the old white men living in some kind of isolation. Those old white men have sons and daughters, grandsons and granddaughters. There's a reason that reputation lives . . . one city newspaper just did a good job of making sure to perpetuate that reputation.
