Nearly triple the current deal

That's why everyone wants their contracts to end after next season.

i wonder this leads an expansion. Teams at Vegas and Seattle perhaps. Hope it wont tho, 30 teams already more than enough.

Doubt it leads to expansion, but it does make things interesting for next summer since a max contract in 2015 will be significantly smaller than a max contract in 2016.

Cue the owners claiming that they are "losing" money during the next round of CBA negotiations. That's NFL type money right there.

So punting on 2015 might be a smar thing for the Lakers to do, saving cap space for 2016. They might not have a choice, 2015 FAs might be asking for one year contracts.

Or you can "overpay" (using 2015-relative scale) and when the new salary caps reflect the TV deal, then "overpay" is now actually not the case.

Regardless, teams will be flooding the market and it'll mainly be a conversation b/w the player and his agent whether to take the guaranteed money now or wait to be part of the new salary cap system. Guys like Klay, they're a shoe in for a max deal now.

Hopefully this means the end of this new luxury tax in the upcoming new CBA. And hopefully we at least go back to the old system where luxury tax teams get the full MLE and BAE. And I hope the Lakers don't have to help out these "poor" teams so much with revenue sharing in the new CBA.

LeBron looks pretty smart for taking that short deal now. I bet you will see other stars do the same next summer.

I like that.. but I also hate it for the same reason.

A $90 million salary cap would basically allow legit All-Star teams to form (should they choose to take less.. and lets be real.. a lot will.)

You could essentially sign 5 $17 million players and 1 sixth man and call it a day. If you thought Miami was bad.. this opens up the potential for Miami on steroids.

Max contracts will rise too. See my post in this section. It breaks down possible annual raises for max deals.

If the players didn't act like a herd of sheep they'd vote to barely raise the ceiling on max salaries all the while negotiating to increase the player share of BRI.

Agree with lebron. These owners are raking and paying these guys 1/10 the money.

We knew this was coming. And we knew the players literally got owned in the last cba. Let's see if they actually hold their ground in 2017

Just on the current cba, that's an increase of some $25m+ to the salary cap.
