Kevin Durant fractures foot
OKLAHOMA CITY -- Kevin Durant has a fractured foot and the Oklahoma City Thunder say they are not sure how long the NBA's MVP will be sidelined.
General manager Sam Presti said in a statement Sunday that Durant informed the team of "discomfort" in his right foot after practice a day earlier.
He underwent tests and the team says he was diagnosed with a "Jones" fracture. The team says traditional treatment requires surgery, and recent NBA cases have resulted in a return to play in six to eight weeks.
The team says it is "collaboratively evaluating the most appropriate next steps with Kevin, his representatives and Thunder medical personnel." It adds, that until a course of action is set "we are unable to provide a timeline specific to Kevin's case."
Durant averaged 32.0 points and 7.4 rebounds a game last season. |

So with this news... is it possible OKC falls out of the playoff picture by the time Durant returns? unless Westbrook averages like 35PPG until he comes back.... it looks like the Lakers have another easy path to the playoffs. |

They fall out of top 3 maybe. But still enough to be in the playoffs.
If we lose our best player we are screwed. At least they still have Westbrook. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

The Thunder management most likely cost the chance for the OKC to win a title when they traded away Harden for tax issue implications ...... the Buss family even now... would do anything to make the team have a chance at a title... that Harden trade is gonna haunt the Thunder for a long time especially if they don't win a title in the next 2 years and Durant walks. |

Westbrook running the offense and being the primary offensive weapon can't be a good thing... I wonder if they will try to trade Jackson or Ibaka for a star player who averages 20PPG.... it would be tough though. |

They will miss him but they will find ways to distribute his shots. Of course durant is an slite scorer but they will be fine. He's only missing one month of games. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

What in the world? With that timetable, they're going to lose him for about 15 games. They usually win about 11 or 12 out of 15 when healthy. Lets say they're a little under .500 without him. That's about a 4 or 5 game difference. Last year that would have dropped them from 2nd to 3rd. I don't see how this makes it any easier for the Lakers. |

I wonder if Westbrook is going to lead the league in scoring while Durant's out. |

I can understand the mentality, because resting and saving yourself for the NBA season should be the priority. I would expect more guys to get injured as they get themselves ready for the NBA season. |

Harden would only have stayed till the end of that contract year. He would be gone regardless since OKC didn't want to pay up to keep their core. If anything the blame goes to OKC management for not maximizing their window. Now the Spurs have reloaded and are the best team in the west, not the Thunder. Looks like OKC will continue to be the bridesmaid in the western conference. |

This only ends up being about 15 games, not too awful for OKC (although it could mean the difference between the 1st seed and the 3rd seed).
I read that Westbrook played 41 minutes total without Durant last season and put 35 shots in that span. _________________ Double rings > Double rainbow |

All the pieces are falling into place for Lebron/Cavs to get the overall #1 seed and home court throughout the playoffs. |

Call me crazy but I'd rather see okc healthy. The last thing I want is for the spurs or the clippers to make it out of the west smh |

Jones Fracture injury is a bad injury. Missing only one month has a slim chance of happening. 6-8 weeks is just for the fracture itself to heal, in Grover's words, not a set return date. There are many cases getting this injury and missing many months(like more than 3 months).Even if KD is cleared to play, he will not be in game shape as he will do nothing after the surgery.

Sad. Never a good thing when one of the league's top stars goes down. Come back soon, KD. _________________ Smrek 2, Nevitt 1, Barkley 0 |

Overreact much?
KD's expected to miss 19 games, and OKC still has a good team without him - so, they'll still win a good % of those games.
Look at their schedule for the first 20 games: 2 vs Utah, 2 vs Nets, 2 vs Detroit, 2 vs Denver, Celts, Philly, Bucks, etc
Even without KD I'd guess 5 probable losses, 11 or so probable wins, and 4 tossups.
It might cost them in a race with Spurs for 1st or whoever for 2nd, but it won't even be a bump in the road to OKC making the playoffs. _________________ LBJ + AD = More rings
