Byron Scott was doomed during Kobe's overlong Lakers goodbye
Quote: | Byron Scott is no longer the coach of the Lakers. Use your own verb. Fired, released, liberated. Maybe even promoted.
Scott’s two seasons (38-126) were the Lakers’ worst of all time. That was about as much of a surprise as his firing. To find a more thankless job, he would have to become Johnny Manziel’s publicist. Without researching it, one must assume he’s the only coach to get canned after one of his players scores 60 points in a win. That will be a Final Jeopardy question someday. |

Dare I say.. that Byron Scott no longer being the coach kind of softens the blow of that possibility lol. For me at least. |

Woj article says we had team options for the next 2 years. Did not know that. So we're of the hook salary-wise? _________________ “God knew they couldn’t be on this Earth without each other. He had to bring them home to have them together.” – Vanessa Bryant |

This is great need. One good step this offseason. Step 2, get a top #2 Pick. |

All I can say is THANK YOU Lakers FO for doing the right thing.
Now let's get a real head coach who knows what a motion offense and a coordinated team defense look like, and also knows what taking responsibility and standing up for players sounds like.
Byron REALLY pissed me off this year, so glad this is over.
Now here's hoping somebody decent comes through that door, and come on LOTTO! |

Also - my confidence in the Lakers ability to land free agents has just scraped itself off the floor and is starting to rise again. |

The FO can sign him for a 2hr lottery talisman contract and pay him $500. |

We were 6th and fell to 7th.
Don't remember if Byron was there. |

That was D'antoni. Nick Young and D'antoni cost us about two draft positions. Lakers could have had the 5th pick that year. _________________ "It's just a job. Grass grows, birds fly, waves pound the sand. I beat people up."-The Greatest |

It's early, I hope I'm not dreaming. Sad things is that I can't get too excited because the Lakers usually have no clue when it comes to picking coaches.
Hopefully they are looking at Ollie, Wright, S.Smart, Izzo(?), Messina, (any younger spurs assistant), Walton,
Pass on Blatt, Jackson, JVG... _________________ "It's just a job. Grass grows, birds fly, waves pound the sand. I beat people up."-The Greatest |

Don't give this article anymore clicks
Quote: | Scott found himself juggling Bryant’s playing time while trying to wet-nurse D’Angelo Russell, somehow deal with me-first shooters Nick Young and Louis Williams, and disguise the inadequacies of Roy Hibbert and Brandon Bass, among others. It was Mission Impossible from the start, and Scott came off as a grumpy headmaster. Whether Russell and the rest learned something from him is up to them. |

Makes sense:
Steve Kyler

I would imagine incentives tied to wins... likely explains why Scott was so focused on playing veterans. |

How pathetically predictable. |
How pathetically true! If they get a top free agent, it shows they just used the guy to play to Kobe's tune for a couple of years. That's disgraceful never giving the guy a chance to win with any reasonable nba talent. |

Brad Stevens or any average NBA coach would likely have met the contractual win quota/incentives.
He's called the Parking Brake for a reason. This team could have won 25-28 games IMO with an average NBA coach. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |
