The problem is BS is not the head coach, but an assistant coach. He needs to talk to his head coach prior to any decisions.

Scott turned the ball over 9 times tonight and took 30 shots and made 8, oh, sorry that was Kobe. I love how many on this blog know what the solution is to coaching Kobe.

In the last 5 games, the Lakers starters are ranked No. 30 out of 30 NBA teams in points per game. The Lakers' bench: No. 1 out of 30 teams in points per game.

Good, at least bench improved.

Lakers coach Byron Scott said he will talk to Kobe Bryant about the possibility of sitting a game or two for fatigue after poor Kings play.

Scott doesnt have the authority.
He benches Boozer and Lin, has some F-ed up rotations, but has never, and will NEVER have the cojones to bench Kobe.

You think the others guys dont see this? You think there wont be "lockeroom issues"?

This team is a joke. Its gotten so bad, the usual haters ive dealt with stopped giving me a hard time. Thats how pathetic we are.

Kobe and Scott are "old school" guys, stubborn in their ways, blinded by some past glory. BUT Kobe has too much power. The circus is in town for another year and Mitch is trying to send the message to Kobe that the franchise wants to move on after next year.

Lets not kid ourselves, this came back to bite them in the ass

Pretty much matches what we've seen. The other teams shown no respect to any other player on the starters besides Kobe. That has the effect of forcing Kobe to work that much harder, which fatigues him faster, on top of his already ridiculous minutes. When Scott (bleep) up, he doesn't do it halfway.

stick lin with davis and limit kobe to 30 minutes. develop clarkson and forfeit a game before inserting ronnie price in. coaching basketball is easy.

you'd be lucky if BS reduces Kobe's minutes by just 1 minute let alone all those things you listed

I honestly think that Byron is playing Kobe so many minutes because he wants to win and keep his job. What I fail to understand is how he can't see that it is doing the opposite.

It's because Kobe's the head coach. Kobe does what he wants and Byron can't or won't do anything about it. I don't think Byron's that dumb or oblivious to the obvious.

It's disturbing what Byron is doing. He's making Kobe look worse and worse by overusing him. Kobe isn't prime Kobe, yes, but what on earth is Byron thinking with his minutes and responsibilities and doesn't he see that Kobe is struggling mightily and floundering?

No player is maximizing his skill set due to anything Byron puts out there. Any palyer that does well is despite Byron, and most of them are playing below their capabilities. Maybe Nick Young, a true freelancer, isn't because he just needs to show up and doesn't need much else. Everyone else seems to be fighting against themselves or disengaged and if you listen to them, they know more about what's needed than the coach. The coach is pulling things out of thin air, he really just thinks Kobe putting the team on his back and playing 3 positions will work while Kobe sinks further into the quicksand Byron has him playing in.

since the lineup change, the only player played better is Carlos Boozer, Kobe's efficiency down to hell, Hill is producing less, Lin is producing less, Ronnie staying put, Ed more or less the same...

Byron must be gone at the end of next season, when Kobe retires.

Then we can start a clean rebuild.

I knew Byron was a pretty bad coach. But I didn't realize just how bad he was. He's making D'Antoni look good.

I honestly don't mind the stealth tank, but he is running kobe into the ground. I don't want to see kobe being carried off the court.. not the way to end his career

Are you kidding? Do you even watch the games??

This team has been in a bunch of games and had chances to win. B.Scott hasn't called plays to get open shots at the end of games and has relied entirely on Kobe to shoot long contested jumpers that have missed again and again and again.

B.Scott hasn't even tried to draw up a play to get a shooter free or get someone cutting to the basket. He's done little if any coaching at all, thus the constant assertions this team is tanking on purpose.

Because he's running Kobe into the ground in the process. Oh, and the Lakers are completely unwatchable. Fans aren't drones, eventually even Kobe's name won't be a lure if he's putting up horrible numbers consistently.

Actually... yeah... about 23 people bought into Byron Scott's message in the fundraising thread. It turns out that Byron Scott was a stealth tank commander hiding under all that anti-D'Antanki theater on TWC. I can see why people are mad, but after all this MB/MDA/BS, I am pretty much desensitized to these rebuild seasons.
