Did Byron really tell them to intentionally foul, up four with 13.7 seconds left?
I think we need to start a new thread called "Tank or No Tank?" where we try to figure out whether these coaching decisions are intentionally bad or unintentionally bad.
“We’re not trying to tank games. That’s absurd,” Scott said. “We’re going to try to win every game. Whatever happens after that with the lottery pick happens. But if you’re going to lose every game so we can get the best pick, I think it backfires. We’re trying to build a culture here that you have to come to play hard every single night.”

here's my theory. i noticed from the recent substitution patterns, B Scott is really trying to win games rest of the way. he does that to put pressure on the front office to keep him next season and beyond. if he can manage win half of the games rest of the way, it'd be a pr nightmere to fire Scott this summer. i think as soon as Scott got the feeling tanking is the direction front office wants and he'd be a lame duck coach until the real rebuilding starts, he decided to take upon himself to force their hands in order to save his job. oh yeah, he probably got a pointers here and there from Magic too.
this is why he's been playing those "hired guns" more recently than the youngsters. Lin, Davis, Ellington are all showcasing for their next big paydays, so they gonna play hard and Byron knows that.
BS should look at the long term prospect for keeping his job with the Lakers. Tank this season, get a top pick and improve the roster with a chance for an extension. FO will not fire him for the disaster of this season as he was dealt with a lousy roster.
If we can stop being this continuous pattern of being inconsiderate knuckle heads tomorrow by stopping from playing hard and competitive against Oklahoma...Play to the extreme level of our talentless lack of ability...then hopefully everything goes right and we lose....A loss tomorrow will calm down my worries _________________ True Laker fan from the state of Michigan! byron wasn't gonna get fired after this season regardless. he, mitch, jeanie, kobe, everybody has said the the lakers don't tank. byron even said that of recent, mitch too, but y'all want to ignore that fact - to assume (based upon the record and their positioning in the draft) that they are tanking. the lakers were never tanking, that was just your imagination and aspirations to get a top pick. if they do get a top pick, it isn't because they tanked, it's because they weren't good enough, to win enough games not to get a top pick.
5th straight losing season as a coach... Why should we even be excited for next season? He's flat out garbage as a coach, Why everyone got excited in the summer when they appointed him I'l never know. He was supposed to be this defensive guru yet we are last in points allowed this season, Clearly he's not the right man for the job long term
Mark Jackson or Stan Van Gundy are legit upgrades over this guy why they went with Scott over Jackson is something that I'l never understand
His last revelant season was 2008/9 with the Hornets going 49-33
Since then, Oh go and look at this record for yourself its flat out abysmal _________________ Lakers
