Byron has always needed a great/very good PG to create the magic on O. Kidd, Paul. etc. His idol/model coach Riley the same with Magic/Hardaway etc.
Lakers don't have much talent, but I get Byron's game plan. He knows he's playing with even less talent than D'Antoni had last year at the early stages and definitely less than 2 years ago. Last year our 2nd best player was Pau. This year in PS so far who has it been? Boozer.
What he's trying to do is make the team win playing in the 90's and late 80's. Playing possession basketball. It may not work. We'll probably still be pretty bad. But it's what he was brought in to do. It's what he was taught is the way to win and it's the way Kobe wants to win.
On Mitch to go out and get some defensive presence inside to make the D work and also to get a PG that can create (Lin is best as a backup) since Nash is done. If Mitch can upgrade the roster and we get Lin/Young back, we'll look a lot better. And these sets aren't just MDA run and gun or run S/R and take a quick open look stuff. The MDA offense is the easiest to learn. These sets require far more work and in game execution.
Byron deserves more time than some are giving him IMO. |

This game was positive for anyone that's rooting for Kobe to have a good comeback year, he looked fresh and had a typical Kobe game, where he starts off slow and then gets in a groove, he started off 3-13 and made 7 of his last 10 shots . He's baaaaaaaaaack
To be honest, this team is not going to be a contender by any means unless we make some moves during the season, but it will be fun to watch Kobe ball out there and prove haters wrong. Gotta be positive about something, right? _________________
