Obviously minutes will vary and Young will slide in there somewhere.

Add X and Kelly, we have good depth.
Not so many great stars, but good depth.

Then again, that is what we said last year, didn't we?

Ah, no.

Depth chart from Opening Day:
Nash/Farmar
Blake/Meeks
Young/Henry/Johnson
Williams/Hill
Gasol/Kaman

Nash was having severe nerve problems and I don't think anyone was counting on him playing much
Farmar was trying to get back into the NBA after falling out of the league. It wasn't certain that he could play at a NBA level
Blake was a quality vet back up combo guard
Meeks was a quality back up SG
Young came in with a reputation as a no-D, low percentage gunner
Henry had failed on two teams and was close to washing out of the league
Johnson had failed on two teams and was close to washing out of the league
Willians had washed out of the league and was back only because D'Antoni liked him when he coached him in New York
Hill was coming off of two years were he was injured. No one knew what he could contribute
Gasol was a quality starting center
Kaman was an okay backup center

That's three players on the opening day roster that an outside observer would say definitely belonged on a NBA roster.

i agree with op - randle must start . he may be our next "best laker" . all this bs about developing him from the bench is just stupid. put pressure on this kid to see if he's a great player. we need to play randle with kobe

also davis should start , hill is way more effective coming from the bench .

start - lin , kobe , wes or x , randle , davis

bench - price , clarkson , young , boozer , hill

get rid of nash (i really do like him but he's our curse and i don't want him near this team even if he plays well).

So far, I think they are handling Randle pretty good. In the beginning he clearly wasn't ready.

Now he seems to have fixed that outside shot which complements his driving and inside game. And his coast to coast looks good and is under control.

We need to see how his defense is.

At the rate he is improving he'll be ready to start in no time.

But then that weakens the bench unit. I don't think the bench would be as good with Boozer on it.

And maybe the Lakers like having the bench as the stronger unit. (that's an opinion not a fact)

As many here have said, it's the amount of minutes and who finishes not who starts that's important.

I kind of like that unit of Davis, Randle, Lin...very energetic. They all deserve to start, but what is the best for the Lakers?

I'd start Davis at pf and move Boozer to sf; put Wes Johnson on the bench. He's not starter material. If Boozer can't play sf, I'd move Kobe over to sf and start Clarkson.

Randle is still not ready for starter minutes yet sadly. He'll get there eventually though.
