I really hope Byron isn't planning on starting Price over Lin in any circumstances this season. _________________ My Dream Starting 5 next Season

Lin/Price (Nash when healthy)
Kobe/Clarkson
Johnson/Kobe
Boozer/Randle
Hill/Davis
Obviously minutes will vary and Young will slide in there somewhere.
I am pretty happy with this. We will be much better than people think.
On a side note, I hope we keep Roscoe over Ellington. He is simply better and more needed as he is a 3 |

Okay, but if you're going to include an injured Nash then you're forgetting an injured Young and X too. I think Kelly is good enough to also get some burn.
edit: My bad, you did mention Young. _________________ The butter's hard and the eggs are chillin' in the dark.

Please keep it in the P&M thread. Or, better yet, just go away. _________________ Jeffs

Let's be real, the Lakers have serious potential with Clarkson and Randle. Let's be real again, I'm excited about how much promise this team shows in spurts. Lets be real one more time, it's going to shock a lot of people how well this team does. _________________ "We are the goodest." - Shaq ESPN interview |

Just keep Nash as a pseudo-coach. We don't need him in and out of the lineup disrupting consistency. Let Clarkson develop by giving him time as a part of the 2nd unit. He's looked good in the few preseason games that he's played. Keep Price as insurance. |

If everyone is healthy I would expect our rotation to be.
Lin/Nash
Kobe/X
Wes/Nick
Boozer/Randle
Hill/Davis
I don't expect Nash to be healthy at all this season so Price/Clarkson will likely battle for the backup PG minutes. |

When Lin or Boozer is the second best player in your starting lineup, you're in trouble. Lin was at best the fourth best in Houston, and Boozer wasn't even good enough to finish games in Chicago. Here, they are two of our best three starters. Not good, not good at all, especially when the lineup is rounded out by two players that are not starting caliber (Johnson and Hill). |

They aren't championship caliber, but they don't need to be. For me, that's not what this year is about.
i see it as being about developing the beginnings of a new starting core of a Lakers' team for the future. And it is starting to look like some of the bench players might have that potential. That is exciting.
Byron Scott seems old school so I am betting he lets Randle/Clarkson/Davis stay on the bench for now... and it's not the worst thing, as long as they are learning to play together.
That's the story that is interesting to me. \That, plus wanting to see Kobe be Kobe again, and same for Nash. And interested to see whether Lin can have a new start here. Also think this could be a good year for Nick Young, |

Add X and Kelly, we have good depth.

i think we would be a good addition to the d-league roster and see how he produces but it's too late for him to make the team. |

I think the lakers should take a look at him, he's got length, athletic and can shoot the 3. No idea why the Nuggets are releasing him _________________ My Dream Starting 5 next Season

On the one hand, having Price start keeps the ball in Kobe's hands.
On the other hand, having Lin start SHOULD have the ball in Lin's hands and allow Kobe to play off ball.
I'm pretty sure Kobe would rather play on ball, but, since I would like to see him play more off ball, (maximize his minutes), I'd like to see Lin out there.
Plus, if Kobe is going to play in the post, I don't know that I'd trust Price making post entry passes out there. |

Price is playing out of his mind right now. I have never seen him play this well in a sustained sense. I fear that his shooting #s will finally fall back to earth at some point. He's still a dogged defender, and that has been his calling card. But I would like Lin to get the most minutes overall. Maybe something like:
Lin: 32 mpg; Price 16. I think that's the division of minutes come regular season. (unless we get nash trying to crawl his way back into the starting line up again). _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

I agree that Price is doing some magic. He gets a little too drive happy for me but so does Lin. But this is worlds better than the old Fisher years and Nash can stay unhealthy for most of 2014 and be a mentor for the young ones. _________________ This Laker Organization has not yet hit bottom. It is moving there quickly, and I suspect this year we will see zero talent coming to the Lakers and we will trade away Kuz and BI for old vets in the hopes of giving LeBronze some scapegoats. |

I just wouldn't expect this level of production when the regular season starts. It's certainly a great sign but there's 6-7 years of tape on him already. He is shooting way better than he normally does at this point. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Price's defense is pretty awesome. I can't remember which PHX guard it was that he just flat out single handedly prevented from getting past him, but you rarely see that kind of defense played out on the perimeter.
But to yinoma's point, he's a 9 year vet that shoots 37%-38% on every one of the 5 teams he's played on. So that's who he is.
Having said that, it wouldn't surprise me if we saw a slight uptick in his efficiency because he has never shared a backcourt with a player as dominant and attention grabbing as Kobe. |
