lol... i say its a crap shoot. there are times when they both frustrate the heck out of me. i thought wellington was supposed to be some kind of shooter but he's been inconsistent and the same goes for smith who has times when he just can't get it done. it seems if there is a loose ball he doesn't get it. if the ball comes off the rim and he's there it'll bounce off his hands and go out of bounds.
again i say just flip a coin.

I was excited to get Ellington but I'd rather look for a SF. X-Ray is out, Young is out, Wes is wildly inconsistent. Need a big SF to develop.

Please cut Wellington. I really don't want to see him clanking shots during the regular season.

Dang. If Ellington is cut while hurt he gets full contract money. But I'd rather develop Smith who seems to offensive rebound. But he's raw.

And can't hit freethrows.

Wayne Ellington was on the roster bubble but with concussion - Lakers can't cut him while hurt - else they would owe him full salary

Ronnie Price suffered what looked like knee contusion - he also can't be cut while hurt or be owed full salary - but was already making team

So I would say Lakers opening night 15 is all but set with Price and Ellington - while some teams cut guaranteed money - doubt Lakers do

Fyi Roscoe Smith and Jabari Brown were cut. I really wish Scott had given Jabari Brown more minutes. He wasted any potential to see what he could do.

if wellington's shot isn't falling he's kind of a concrete life jacket.

Roscoe deserved to make the team over Ellington

I hope he gets picked up by someone else, Aside from missing those 2 free throws he looked decent especially on the boards

I wanted Jabari Brown to make the team over both.

Guess we can all expect Byron to give Ellington the Shawne Williams treatment this season. -_-

Ellington did nothing to make this team. He played himself out of a roster spot in my opinion.

Roscoe should have stayed.

The Lakers are pathetic... so they don't want to pay Ellington's 1M salary and instead keep this brickster on the team for absolutely nothing? there are better shooters on the market then him....

I think we can all agree Ellington should have been cut, but he was the only real healthy backup SG on the roster. Clarkson is a combo guard. X is hurt. Young is hurt. Roscoe is a SF/PF (more in spirit than size). Roscoe was intriguing but he honestly can't shoot a lick. Mostly just hustle at this point. I hope he ends up on the D-Fenders and perhaps is called up later.

If X comes back and Ellington can't shoot he'll be gone then. I thought it was Sasha there for a minute.

He's a good career shooter. But is a bit of a poor fit in byron's non 3 point shooting system. Who are the better available shooters btw?

Well he's the only healthy SG out there, I'm assuming he'll get min despite being a lackluster shooter so far. Shame that Jabari B. didn't get any burn until the last preseason game.

me. too. I predicted Brown would take Ellington's spot. Too bad I'm wrong. But it would have been the right decision. Jabari is a bit shaky on D but his offensive output/balance is better that Ellington... ie doesn't need to shoot from 3s all the time. Will find the open spot to get his shot off- 15ft, rim. But make no mistake, he can shoot.

There is a thing called the luxury tax which the Lakers are trying to avoid going over because we are repeat offenders of it and we will have to pay.

Didn't Brown practice for weeks? I am guessing Byron saw what he could do.

Yeah, they should just eat that money to make fans happy, fans that don't even know the dude's real name.

Ellington is no big deal, I hope Lakers find someone worth while to work with and develop. However, we may need him to kick off the season because of injuries...
