That was a stupid comment by Jeanie. When she used the word "afraid", she created a straw man, she went above and beyond to protect her cash cow. THat is the perception. It proves a lot of what many players had a problem with to begin with. No, not that they are "afraid", but that if you go to the Lakers and you dont win then everyone is going to protect Kobe and blame you.

Jeannie's argument was very weak. Collin Cowherd could've really corner her in just base on her argument but he was being nice this morning. what da heck was she talking about when she said the team was afraid of Kobe testing FA, no other team out there was willing to pay more than half of what Lakers offered him.

(1) DAYUM. Jeanie showing up like Connie Corleone -- not the battered wife in Part I, or the spoiled socialite from Part II. I'm talking about the cut-throat, puppet-master from the THIRD movie, when she started ordering hits on underbosses like Joey Zasa and bringing poison cannolis to the opera.

(2) IF we had signed Melo (sigh), then we likely could've brought Pau back. We may not have had cap space for Young, and certainly none for Lin. Scrub PGs would've been needed, but steals like Davis might have still been out there. So we may have ended up with:

PG - Sessions? Mo Williams?/ Clarkson/ Price
SG - Kobe/ Ellington/Xavier
SF - Melo/ Johnson
PF - Davis/ Kelly
C - Pau/ Sacre
