Do I have this correct, the Clippers will need to finish between the 5th and 9th best record in the league for us to get their 2nd rounder? My #1 pursuit in the offseason would be Asik.

Pelicans will love him and be able to offer him a 5 year deal with higher raises imo.

Well, if we can get a Center in free agency, start scouting and use Houston pick to draft one...

Unless he underperforms this season, it is difficult to see why Pelicans would let him go. The Davis/Asik combo seems too good to break up.

That is where we will need to sell the sunshine over the rain. I would be surprised if the Pelicans gave him a raise, but you never know.

Call me crazy but I think I would try a Nash for Ilyasova + Henson trade.

Why does Mil do it? Get out of Ilyasova's contract. Henson isn't critical to them since they have Sanders and Zaza.

Why does LA do it? If they are intrigued by Henson as a center prospect (he is a UNC alum LOL), and Henson is cheap. Sure Ilyasova is on a turrible contract, but we are thin at the 3 and his K is an expiring next year. There's a chance he could have a resurgence (slim lol). If he continues to stink they could try to buy him out.

Greg Monroe is a durable big... not playing the position he should (center)... on a team overstacked with overlapping talent (DTown)... and he's young... still 4-5 years away from a likely prime.

I'm a huge fan of signing Greg Monroe.

Personally...

Monroe
Lin
Maybe Ed Davis (lets see if he can be Ibakaish...)
Possibly Green

Would be fine with me for Kobe's last year...

Then likely the Lakers might have 2 Max's the following off season when Kobe's contract is no longer.

Obviously they want to keep davis and if he likes Asik who will take the pounding at center he will be kept.

Wonder if Utah would be dumb enough to trade Gobert? LOL

Offer them Kelly and Houston's 1st

Deandre Jordan/WCS or Monroe/WCS are the most likely options at C next year. Gobert and Henson aren't getting traded, both are apart of their teams future at C.

Asik will be available, the Lakers would just have to oversell the competition.

If you want a defensive center whom could anchor a defense why don't you just keep Ed Davis long term?

Why keep searching for the answer when its in plain sight?

If Ed Davis pans out this year or even takes the starting spot from Hill he's the guy you'll want to pay this off-season and already has chemistry with Randle.

I'm leaning towards aggressively pursuing one of these cheap developing centers if possible. Because you can combine them with re-signing Davis and potentially have rim protection all game long.

I'd much prefer having
Henson/Davis
Gobert/Davis
Dieng/Davis
etc. for the cost of just Asik, Jordan, Gasol by themselves.

Obviously MUCH easier said than done, but that's what I'd be shooting for

Gobert and dieng are pretty much impossible to obtain with our assets.

Henson is inconsistent but a good backup big. Not necessarily impactful front court players.

Pretty much everyone in my post will be nearly impossible for us to get except for maybe Henson lol. Even Gasol, Jordan, and Asik are long shots.

A good defensive center is worth $16 mil a season. I will believe NO will offer the max when I see it, that isn't their style.

Davis has never played 20 mpg, he is an unknown at this point. Though things would be easier if he works out.

You would seriously pay Asik $16m? Whoa.

Again if Davis wants him they will keep him. If Asik sucks then we probably don't have to overpay.

I agree that's over paying. But both of you are willing to give $15M to Hibbert so what's the difference? lol
