Da hell: "Carlos Boozer and Jeremy Lin are high-priced, low-value veterans".
It isn't even true. |

Actually they both were good pick-ups.
We only pay a portion of Lin's & Boozer's salaries so for what we owe them it's really NOT high-priced.
Both will play a valuable role in the the success or failure of the team this season. |

I guess that $3 mil for Boozer wowed them. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

Boozer is high priced for Chicago, not so much LA. Probably thinks LA traded for him, not claimed him off some small amnesty bid, but they don't really do much research in the media any more, it takes too much time away from spitting out drivel. _________________ I believe everything the media tells me except for anything for which I have direct personal knowledge, which they always get wrong |

One thing is for sure if we end up bottom 5 in the league I'd be happy. If we end up making the playoffs I'd be happy as well. But I won't be happy being in the lottery then watch the top 10 pick go to the Suns, now that would be devastating. _________________ My Dream Starting 5 next Season

Mavs are no joke this year but 5 is probably a couple spots too high. We're not 25 either. More like 17-19, which should put us around 10-11 in the West, but 8-11 spots might be tight in the West this year so we might be fighting for a playoff spot all the way to the end |

Wow some of the teams they have ranked ahead us just smh...
(My guess at record 2014-2015)
1. Houston- (41-41)
That team is thin as paper. No bench. Dwight Howard's a beast but actually is not a great rim protector these days post-surgery, and is vulnerable to hack-a-howard. Harden as everyone knows is arguably the most overrated shooting guard in the NBA. Rest of tthe team lacks significant talent. Poorly coached.
2. Brooklyn Nets (39-43)
Vets are a year older and Deron has played worse every season as he's gotten older. Lost Shaun Livingston, paul pierce. Didn't get any major talent. Only reason they may hit this number of wins is playing in the eastern conference.
3. Pistons (30-52)
Just a "Lolwhut" moment. Guard play soft as putty. Couple good bigs but I've never been a fan of josh smith's game. This team barely won 25 games last year and haven't made any major aquisitions. New coach may help.
4. Dallas (42-40)
Overpaid parsons and while he is good offensively, he's almost in the "james harden" category on defense. No longer have a quality point guard since Calderon left. Monta Ellis and dirk are solid but can't a win a game themselves. Losing Shawn Marion was quietly a huge blow as was Vince carter. Hopefully Tyson chandler can return to form but that remains to be seen. Bigs typically get less springy as they get older.
5. Denver (40-42)
Since when did they become an elite team? Yes they were injured last year but even before the injuries they were not all that inspiring and that is once again assuming they can still healthy again.
6. Charlotte (40-42)
I'm not buying that lance Stephenson is the difference maker they've been waiting for. The eastern conference has improved quite a bit throughout so I would assume they will not outpace the advances made by their in-conference opponents. Kemba is a bottom tier point guard and big Al's another year older, which will cost his already suspect defense. Also no more mcroberts.
7. Phoenix (38-42)
Too many cooks in the kitchen. Yes their guard depth is impressive and Gerald green has improved a lot. But they don't have the rebounding presence to get second chance points and prevent them. The whole team is small and the offense isn't potent enough to compensate for lack of rebound presence. After all, very hard to win a game when you don't win the rebounding battle.
That's the most egregious offenders on this list. Obviously odds are at least one of these teams will overachieve my expectations. But I seriously think we are being overlooked and I'm not sure why.
Last year this team was pretty bad I'll admit, but you're tellling me you are betting against a motivated kobe Bryant (the ultimate closer) and Mr. 4th quarter himself??? (Jeremy Lin :p) Kobe carried the 2012-2013 harder than even Lebron did his Cav's in their heyday and I'm sure he's capable of doing it again (and arguably with more talent given the health of nash and dwight that year) And I don't know how many of you watched the portland houston series last year but if you haven't Youtube (Lin portland). The guy literally carried them to a game 5 win very much on his own, and performed very well in the other games including sealing game 3 with a late game steal and dish to Troy Daniels for a game winning three.
Overall there's so much blossoming talent on this roster and guys with something to prove that I don't know how anyone can write them off so easily. Here's to proving all the doubters wrong!

It seems like so many people think the Lakers will stink this year even their fan base thinks this which is fine I guess. The Lakers need to prove it out on the court.

Sorry to disappoint you but the Lakers will be playing to win. I know you don't want that but any team with Kobe isn't going to lay down. I suggest you pick a different team if you want to see losses. |

Does that talent include the avengers?
We could sure use the hulk to anchor our defense |

I agree completely they are both relatively cheap and best yet JLin has one year left on his contract. If he works out, great. If not, sayonara. Both smart moves. Boozer a veteran that could be a big help while Randle ups his game to NBA level and imagine where the Lakers would be if they hadn't picked up Lin? |

Oh, come on. You know why.
1. Kobe has played 6 games in 18 months.
2. Nash is already gone.
3. The rest of the roster is piecemeal.
4. The defense is going to be comical at times.
If you were a writer for a magazine, where would you rate us? Would you assume that Kobe is going to bounce back to 2010 form, or would you hedge your bets? Would you assume that a retread head coach is going to whip the mismatched pieces on this roster into a machine, or would you take the roster at face value?
If Kobe manages to play 75ish games and averages 33ish minutes at his level of productivity from the '12-'13 season, and if we get some sort of defense from the roster, we could be better than 25th. However, if I was in the media, I wouldn't make those assumptions. |
