17-7-2-1 is terrible? As our only interior option? Ok. But Pau would have brought his quality NBA defense too, eh? I forgot, he doesn't play defense.

That would be a subpar game for Pau, even last year. And better defense.

Completely disagree about the defense. Pau was a sieve last season, at least Boozer will put a body on someone. And stastically Boozer's stats weren't that far off from Pau's last season.

Really? Except Pau brings height, passing, and ball movement in addition to his scoring and rebounding. Boozer will put up points and thats about it. Pau's selflessness makes teammates better. Pau also defends against Dwight pretty good--Boozer cannot defend against DH. Boozer plays on an island.

Can we not do that thing where we underrate the players we don't have that we don't like, overrate players we don't have that we do like, and so on?

Pau was highly unmotivated as a Laker in his final season, so much so that he took less money to play elsewhere.

Agreed but lets not kid ourselves about Boozer--he was amnestied.

And as such is a bargain. I can't miss Pau when he bailed on the team.

Believe me ... I know exactly what Boozer is and what he isn't.

But Boozer showed more fire at moments of a 20pt blowout loss, then I've seen Gasol show in maybe 1-2 seasons now.

I'd much rather have a motivated Gasol over Boozer, but not an unmotivated Gasol over a motivated Boozer.

Pau's gone and he dind't even want to come back here for more money so at the end of the day it's irrelevant but how do you get "not far off" between 17.4/9.5/3.5 assists/1.5 blocks and 13.7/8/1.6/0.3? That's not even in the same realm.

You must have looked at the wrong boxscore, Boozer had 17, 7 ,2, 1 last night and shot over 50%.

Nah, it was my fault. I thought you were comparing his production last season to Pau's.

Gotcha, probably should have made that clearer. And just as with the bad things, we have to remember it is only one game.

It is actually too bad that we didn't have Davis with Pau. That would have been a good combination.

As to the OP, I don't miss Pau. He did what he came here to do and for whatever reason you choose to believe, he was done as a Laker.

I dont, it was time to part ways with him. We gotta build this (bleep) from the ground up. There is no other way.

To me, Boozer has always been one to put up "meaningless" stats. Most of his points last night (and in MOST games) came when the game was a forgone conclusion. Whenever you really need him to make an impact, he disappears. He was like that in Utah, and in Chicago as well.

no they wouldnt. you miss a real 7 footer. as a laker fan there has never been a time when we didnt have at least one legit 7 foot big that could play. sacre is not the one. lol.
We're ultra small in every way right now.

Agree with this. It's not Pau specifically, it's that this team doesn't have a real center. Running two guys who should be backup power forwards at center isn't going to cut it.

You watch pau Gasol consistently take it to the basket and draw fouls as a member of the Bulls and it pisses you off because it becomes more obvious how badly he was phoning it in his last few seasons as a Laker.

I think he'll post rejuvenated numbers this season just because he's in a different environment now. Its a team that has a chance to go deep in the eastern conference.
