Pau's line in his Bulls debut.
But yes, definitely better off without him. We've got Hill and Sacre. They'll do. |

What is the point of this thread? None of us have any authority over who is on the Lakers roster.
I mean I get it, we're all frustrated, but Pau had full autonomy over the his free agency and left us. Nothing we could do. |

Isiah Thomas over Jeremy Lin would've been nice as well and Lance Stephenson over Jordan Hill. |

Lakers offered him more money than anyone. Pau took less to go elsewhere. It's science. And fact. And common sense. |

To be fair Lakers preferred Pau to Hill as well. Hill was signed only after Pau rejected them. |

Love Pau, but he lost his fire/passion to be a Laker. He put up those awesome numbers because he's rejuvenated now and in a fresh environment, something we couldn't provide. |

Not really if you are giving up that many or more on defense. Rather have Sacre at the vet minimum, this season was doomed with or without Pau. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

I don't think anyone would've made a difference. it's a philosophy issue, as far as I am concerned. Putting shooters in the corners, and actually encouraging them to shoot when open, would be a good start.
I just don't see Pau operating well in Byron's offense, clogged lane with no outside threat to back him up, with no spacing. it just doesn't work that way. even low-scoring Memphis understands this philosophy when putting Randolph down low. _________________ "Now, if life is coffee, then the jobs, money & position in society are the cups. I have no idea why they didn't go after either of those guys. Mitchell did not have a strong off-season, dude is asleep at the wheel. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

Howard and Pau bail out on their own...I can't blame them. They probably see the horrible rosters incoming.
Time to move on, this season is crap with or without Pau like many others have said. |

Pretty bad offseason except for Ed Davis. I would think that signing Thomas and Stephenson or Luol Deng would have increased our chances of resigning Pau. |

He was offered nearly the same amount of money as Jordan Hill.
In other words, it was a, we really don't want you kind of thing.
Kobe got $25M a year basically, and Pau would get more than a 50% paycut to stay. If he his offer was around $15M/year, he'd still be here. Simple as that. |

Exactly. I have had this same logic for a long time. The only regret I have is never getting any assets back for him. His massive contract was the main reason for that. Pau at $19m looks terrible, but Pau at $6M is a straight up bargain. |

Woulda been useful if we gave him a real contract instead of the one that was offered.
The offer to him was an utter joke. When you get dirt kicked in your face over and over again, like the Lakers org has been doing, including his contract offer, sooner or later, you need to leave.
And that's exactly what he did. He left because they treat him like DIRT. |

It wasn't in the best interests of Pau or the Lakers for him to stick around unless we got something big (Melo/Lebron).
Pau is a fantastic player, but I'm also glad he's not wasting his time unmotivated here. He went to a great situation for him. The Bulls are a better team to watch with his presence. |

I love Pau, and I would have loved for him to retire a Laker, but honestly he's not a good fit for us and we're not a good fit for him anymore. He's much better off in Chicago with athletes and a great defensive coach to cover for him so he can just use his height, and we're better off developing young bigs like Davis (and Randle before he went down, sigh) for the future than treading water. |
