Which is why I don't understand why Scott is starting Lin. Scott said he wanted the 2nd unit to be a running team, so naturally he should have Lin and Clarkson coming in for the 2nd unit to get some easy transition buckets.
I'm starting to think the FO is pressuring Scott to start Lin because of the Lin fan base. I thought Price played well with the 1st unit, and Lin was superb with Davis and Clarkson in the 2nd unit.
If I'm Scott this should be the rotation:
Starters:
Price
Ellington
Hill
Kobe
Boozer
2nd:
Lin
Clarkson
Sacre
Wesley
Davis
Doesn't this make more sense? Lin will be more effective coming off the bench with the 2nd unit IMO. And wesley Johnson's athleticism will be best used in an open court situation...while Ellington's shooting is best used in a half court scenario....
I can only guess that was Byron's initial plan. Although I think it would have been
Starting lineup(slower paced triangle sets)
Ronnie
Kobe
Wesley
Boozer
Hill
2nd unit (run, high pick and roll, pressure on the defense)
Lin
X when healthy, Clarkson
Nick Young(when healthy), Ellington
Randle(when healthy), Kelly
Ed Davis, Sacre
But now our 2nd unit at best this season would be
Lin
Xavier / Clarkson
Young / Ellington
Kelly
Davis / Sacre
And yes that 2nd unit would be built for the high pick and roll, fast break, drive and kick offense which Lin is best at which is why he averaged about 15/7 coming off the bench during pre-season.
What games have you been watching? Ronnie Price has been getting lit up by anyone he's guarding. People are confusing hustle with defense.
Yeah he does the same thing most of their perimeter guys do. They overplay and gamble for a block and a steal and if they don't get it, someone ends open with a wide open 3 or a dunk.
Lin has played with the 1st and 2nd units so far. I don't think changing which teammates he plays with is going to make much of a difference, unless we are talking about getting all new teammates.
Anybody simply watched a few years basketball should play Lin with 2nd unit
I like how this guy calls himself "lin only fan" lmao... It's ok to dislike him but try to bring a little positivity/constructive conversation to the discussion lol
Heh.
Our starting point guard is out for the year.
So our backup point guard started the last 2 games.
Our 6th man is out for 2 months
In game one, we had a guy who hasn't played all pre-season play the backup sf spot. And he stunk.
In game two, the guy who had a concussion played the backup sf spot. and he did well.
In game one, we lost our backup PF, who actually can push the ball up the court, for the season.
If healthy:
Lin
Henry/Clarkson
Young
Randle
Davis
I think that team would have been able to push the tempo.

I saw good chemistry when Lin played with Davis actually, it's another reason why he should come off the bench.

That's why with Randle/Young out...you have to move Wesley to the 2nd unit...he's got the athleticism to run with Lin and Clarkson. Davis is gonna be the trail guy getting put backs and dunks in my mind. Hey it doesn't hurt to try and switch things up...especially when we already lost two games by 20 as it is.

Lin played his best game when he had ball in his hand, an with a PnR big.
Lin intended to be in attacking mode or take over the game when he has scrubs around and when he felt he had to.
With the starters, he has to share ball, defer the ball, no PnR (no Davis) ...
Simply watched a few preseason and the last two games with acknowledge of LIn's game, you can get to that. Its not always like off'-bench is inferior to starter, if you simply watched few years NBA

I really miss Steve Blake. That guy was a legit PG.
Lin's a TO machine. Banish him to the bench, make him work into shape.
I don't think anyone on this site appreciated Blake more than me, but he wouldn't be playing much better than Lin right now given the lack of system and horrific fit of players.
Byrons' hands are tied with this group of NBA-challenged players. This team won't win more than 15 games and none of it will be his fault... _________________ LAKERS RAIDERS KINGS DODGERS AZTECS MIDSHIPMEN
