Defensive length and hustle on the glass are what you want from your bigs if you're trying to pull off a defensive-minded, efficient, grind-it-out game plan. Assuming Lin realizes and embraces his green light and puts his driving foot on the gas, having him and Kobe on the attack, with Davis and Hill on glass clean-up, may not be so bad.
I was probably expecting too much from Boozer in that I wanted him to give us 12 and 7 a night. The guy plays like his hands are coated with Crisco, his feet are drenched in molasses, and his throat has way too many lozenges to bolster his unnecessarily screeching. Too many fumbles and turnovers, too many blow-bys, and way too much volume for the little he's done on the court.
Ugh. |
Ed Davis moving up as a starter is what I hope to see. |

Nick Young will help when he gets back. But yeah, Kobe could probably average 30 this season except he'll likely be sitting out 4th quarters due to blowouts.
Thanks, DB. |

That's a good point. He's going to get his points (and shot attempts) within a 30 minute window b/c chances are, we are down big time by the 4th quarter. Sigh. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

I know it's dangerous to read into a few words, but was Kobe saying that Fisher was the kind of leader who pushed him (Kobe) and the team to be better? Is he challenging Lin to do the same, to stake his own claim on the court? |
Yes. I think he was saying Fish was assertive and didn't defer to Kobe all the time. That they would argue about the best approach sometimes during the heat of the battle, but that this is how they got better as a team. And Kobe loved him for it. He wants to channel more alpha dog from Lin to help lead the team on the floor. And I think he believes Lin has a little PTSD from the time with the Rockets. He needs to let go of all that and start helping run the show here.
I've been saying this for a few games now...this is Kobe AND Jeremy's offense to drive. Kobe wants him to take the wheel, even if it means yanking it from his hands on occasion. Just be more alpha dog. |
I think that was why the Kobe liked Steve Black. He was timid when he first came to the Lakers but he did improve his aggressiveness and leadership near the end of the Laker's tenure. It's that Steve isn't just physically as talented as Lin. |
Steve was a fighter. Unlike Lin, he just couldn't/wouldn't finish in the lane ... ever. |

Painful to watch. Everybody looked bad waiting around for Kobe to do something. Kobe's got to get them involved as well. Let's go for some threes to open up the paint. |

That's what killed me most.
And when I realized that, it made me want Boozer jettisoned. What a urine poor performance. Turns out, he's exactly as nonchalant as he showed in the preseason.
Lin is in a very crucial stage in his career. I worry about his mental state under the duress of Kobe ... the season's only 2 games deep. Good luck, homey! _________________ We back. |

kobe is king. Lin should listen to him now to direct the attack. Scott should help Lin out to put bodies which can facilitate Lin's strength. Put Ed Davis to pair with Lin, and trade for at least one reliable 3 pt shooter. How about getting Jimmer Fredette, Steve Novak, James Jones, or Daniel? How about signing up the best 3 pt shooter from D-league? Lin needs Davis for p&r and to attack or dish out to a 3-pt specialist. That is what FO or Scott can do to help Lin out. |

I will still not say he is MJ level, but he is near there . . |
Certainly Lakersground has many good aspects and the T&R is one of them.
The Lakers on the other hand... other than Kobe I can't point out any bright spots. I just can't answer the question, "What is so-and-so good at?" where so-and-so is any Laker other than Kobe and Ed Davis. |

I told you so. People read way too much into the "positive" aspects of pre season ball. Only positive frankly was Kobe and Davis. And that's playing out right before our very eyes in the regular season too. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

It doesn't get any easier..next game against the Clippers. I just hope CP3 doesn't eat Lin for breakfast etc... Could be another blowout loss.
We were terrible at defending the 3 last night. We need to do a much better job of making sure we defend the 3s. |

A lot of talk about the offense but I think the game was lost on defense. Phx seem to do whatever they wanted in that game. |

Exactly, I hear "Lin should be doing this" or "Kobe should be doing that" and I wonder what in the world people are watching.
This team is DOOMED until they find players who take it personally when they get scored upon. These guys are soft, gutless and compound it by being untalented also.
Find some guys who want to compete on the defensive end of the floor and you can build something. Worrying about the offense when you are giving up 115 per game? Ridiculous. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

Their next game will start providing evidence of
BScott and the Black Mamba are reaching the players. Does BScott have good idea on which 7-8 players he can depend on giving him 150% every minute they are on the floor? |

“We just don’t have an abundance of three-point shooters to throw out there,” Scott said...
Well we had these 2 guys last year that shot over 40%
Meeks
Farmar
We basically threw them in the trash cause we were brown nosing Melo and Lebron....
This is what you get when you wiff on the home runs. Only problem is we sucked when Mitch hit his home runs too. Homeruns should not be how you build your teams. The sum of lesser parts plus a star or two. Its pathetic that the Lakers didn't get Thomas. They gave Jordan Hill 2m more! To keep cap flexibility. Ya so we can go brown nose and beg again.
Sorry I'd rather build a team. I rather see the Lakers compete and have NO stars than to watch this hot mess. |

Biggest problem is spacing. When Lin throws an entry pass in the post, there's already another guy close to the poster so it can easily be picked off...like seriously. It's a combination of Lin and the poster's fault and coaching. _________________ “We do have a lot in common.

It's a huge problem. Kobe mentality: christ if I have to do everything myself then I'm going to at least get my 20pts and go down fighting.
problem with that is it also freezes his teammates. But his teammates also need to be more aggressive. tbh I think they are all afraid of kobe lol, Kobe puts a lot of pressure on the team, a team who is young and inexperienced and scared as hell. _________________ “We do have a lot in common.
