His best friend (Gasol) is gone.

His confidant (Fisher) is coaching in New York.

His fellow veteran (Nash) is brooding over his ex-wife while he collects $$ for doing nothing.

His fellow tough guy (Artest) is fading into the sunset.

His coach (Scott) can't do anything but frown like he's constipated.

Kobe is all alone in Lakerland. Nobody left from the glory days. Nobody left to talk to, or confide in. He shares the locker-room with a bunch of confused looking D-Leaguers and a few castaways from other teams.

All of this is happening while the San Antonio Spurs' core players, who were around back in the Shag/Kobe era, are still playing strong.

Kobe is all alone.

Other players in his era have bounced around the league, trying to find that chemistry that may land them that one last title...but Kobe has remained. For now.

How long will he put up with it before he has a meltdown? Why do I think he won't retire a Laker afterall...

listen, it's not about Kobe kobe kobe !!! one thing we all can agree is he had a hand in this mess directly or indirectly. so he's not the victim here. it's just a horrible situation our front office is in, they want to reward the aging super star while handicapping the rebuild process because of it.

I'm more worried about us season ticket holders tolerating another horrible season.

Yes he will. But he'll be shooting 22-25 times a game and not giving a damn about it. If you like that kind of basketball then I guess this is your year!

I think Kobe's head is going to explode in the next 10 games. I know he sort of brought this upon himself with the contract extension, but I don't think he thought it would be this bad. It was OK last season because he was hurt and did not actually have to be on the floor for the loosing. He is healthy now and I honestly don't think it is in his DNA to not have his head explode. He looked PISSED last night and I don't blame him.

I know so many reasons that he should not and might not, but I would not be suprised if he does not demand a trade.

I would love to hear the sales pitch the Lakers made to Kobe to get him to sign the Extension. The promises that were made to him about this year's team, etc.

Does anyone know if he can walk away from his contract?

I can see him leaving the Lakers if he feels the situation is hopeless. I really think he feels lonely in that locker room. He has NOBODY to turn to that he can relate to.

What other kind of basketball does the Lakers have with this talent pool? Give Wes the ball or let Hill post up?

That's the greater concern.

He looks like he's going to murder someone before the season is over. He got into it with Dwight the first game. Bledsoe the second game. He looks frustrated as hell. Even as a Kobe fan, I'm glad since it seems like that will be the only source of entertainment..to see if Kobe murders someone.

Which is why I said Kobe will be shooting 22-25 times a game. This roster construction is what it is.

Whoops. I read the question wrong....LOL. Kobe will go down fighting, and he won't stand losing; it will make for a very entertaining season. In doing so, though, and exerting so much effort on the court, he will breakdown. That might be the best case. Get hurt. Stay away from this depleted roster that's devoid of any type of talent whatsoever and collect your salary.

He was given 49 million reasons to tolerate this season. No choice but to accept it.

I hate to jump aboard the bandwagon but if Kobe took 15 million (about what he's worth anyways at this level of production if you don't count marketing value) then we could have afforded a couple nice pieces, especially if we didn't sign idiot Jordan Hill.

I think the $48 million he's making will ease his pain.

Could have had Lance Stephenson for the difference.

$48 million reasons why he should be the last person complaining.

in addition, he wouldn't be crucified if he made a trade demand to play for a winner.

Kobe sealed his fate for the next 2 years with that contract.

I don't see him demanding a trade. But if this kind of losing continue, I can see him quietly informing the FO that he's open to it. The Knicks would totally trade for him.
