Trading Corey Seager for a frontline pitcher late last season would not have guaranteed the Dodgers a place in the World Series. But it might have helped.
Instead, the club refused to part with the 20-year-old shortstop, who might have helped it land David Price or Jon Lester and address a glaring lack of pitching depth.
That decision raised expectations already elevated for the first-round pick, who is widely regarded as the Dodgers' top prospect, ahead of even highly touted outfielder Joc Pederson.
"Corey is an incredibly gifted prospect," said Andrew Friedman, the Dodgers' new president of baseball operations. "His hands work really well on both sides of the ball and his progression year over year is right in line with that we would hope."

Makes my mouth water thinking about a prospect like Seager at 3B or SS. Very glad we didn't trade him away for Price or Lester (just ask their new teams if those trades really provided any benefit).
Yeah, all those big trades got those teams where? The only trade that may have helped, and this is a reach, is the Giants trade for Peavy. _________________ "A metronome keeps time by using a Ringo"
Farhan Zaidi, Oakland's assistant GM is our new GM. He is really smart.
Impressive background, I am looking forward to seeing how they build this out. Since they've secured the tv deal, they'll slowly pare down the payroll to a sustainable long-term solution that should be highly competitive, yet cost effective.
Uribe got robbed, honestly, again for the second year in a row. His defensive numbers are better across the board.
Kershaw is the worst pitcher in baseball. Couldn't even win a Gold Glove. What a choker. He should only be in the game to hit the ball for the extra point attempt.

Agreed. His runs saved and dWAR were just slightly better, though with less games played, but his fielding percentage, that silly old thing from the past, was significantly better .979 - .959. He just might be the best defensive third baseman the Dodgers ever had. Heck, move him to short, his original position, and he's still better than Hanley. _________________ "A metronome keeps time by using a Ringo"
Lots of insiders tweeting that the Dodgers are aggressively trying to trade 1 or 2 of their outfielders. Puig is off the table though like many of us thought he would be.

Unanimous this time
Regardless of what happened in the postseason. These awards are for the regular season. I'm expecting him to take home the MVP as well. Hopefully he can break through in October next year. _________________ Don't let perfect be the enemy of good

He's too good not to. Lets just avoid the Cards for one postseason, though

It looks like some voters didn't even have Kershaw in the top 3 so some old-timers were trying to ruin the party.
Completely ridiculous!
You're giving PnP a run for his money. At least it wasn't intentional with him. Now do us a favor like him and piss off. _________________ Don't let perfect be the enemy of good

Sucks that he had the postseason he did, but a huge feat nonetheless.
it definitely does not feel the same given the way he performed in the postseason. now i can already hear Giants fans: "you can have your individual trophies, we just collecting WS trophies"
