Honestly, I'm not discourage by the 0-4 start. Every team out there will lose more than 4 games this season. I realize 4 games in 5 nights against these caliber of opponents, some with hyped up home openings, would be a lot for any team to handle, let alone an undermanned team with a brand new squad. That said... This team will win a fair share,if not a lot of games this year once they get everyone back. They are truly a tough match up based on these last two games. They were just too worn out to finish them the 4th quarters strong. Some rest and a few more practices together should see them post some impressive wins over the next six games. Especially, if they can compete for 4 quarters instead of 3. They are definitely tough and energetic, if not smooth and polished... and a bit clumsy. But I see the potential for this year to make noise. _________________ Blood, sweat, tears,

Thanks DB!
I agree with THE_TWELFTH. I'm sure most of us aren't surprised by an 0-4 start, but given the moments of good play and chemistry in these last two games, it gives me hope that it won't have to be all Kobe, all season long. It would be a tragedy to see Kobe go down to injury again due to playing a string of 48 minute games. |

At least Lakers game is improving. (Too) slowly, but still.
A new team. It takes time to gel. _________________ .

The Lakers played a great stretch of B-Ball on O and D, to end the first and start the 2nd. Up by 10, they sub in Boozer and Kobe and the Warriors go on a major run. Kobe took some bad shots and made some terrible plays. He looked completely out of sorts. BScott should have yanked him.
Of course he rebounded well in the 3rd, but he still took some tough shots and sagged on D. I know he's not the only one who played poorly in stretches, but he should be the teams leader and lead by example. He's still got the hero mentality and thats not what this team needs. They honestly played better with him on the bench. (in the 1st half at least) _________________ "Dread it, run from it... destiny arrives all the same." |

Can't stop smh at the fact that no other team has even played 4 games this season, let alone against the likes of our level of competition. _________________ Blood, sweat, tears,

You have no chance of winning consistently giving up 118 points per game.
That is almost ABA mid-70's level numbers.
We have the worst defensive team in the NBA by far, every starter is an utter and complete matador including guys I was hoping could defend a bit like Johnson and Lin. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

I disagree that every guy is a matador. Some guys don't even bother fluttering the cape. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel |

Agree Scott needs to pick/decide his 2nd option, and draw a game plan to maximize this 2nd option abilities
But the real problem on O is static front court. Static front court gives big trouble to any back court, on the other hand it gives your opponent confident to shut you down the whole day.
When your PF and C static it only gives you option to pass to SG and SF
When your PF, C static and SG ask for balls it only gives you option to pass to SF
When your PF, C static and SG and SF got trapped, it gives you 1 on 5 (which is very difficult if you're far from the basket and no open lanes)

I noted that Xavier only touched the ball twice. I think we'll see him full speed next Sunday.
Thanks DB _________________

Hoping for a lineup of this in the future
Starting Unit:
Lin
Kobe
Xavier
Hill
Davis
Speed and youth to help relieve Kobe from having to defend the young bucks like Curry, Westbrook, etc.
Bench Unit:
Price
Ellington
Young
Boozer
Sacre
Swaggy and Boozer should be able to carry most of the scoring load off the bench. |

I agree with other posters that 0/4 start is understandable given the hellish schedule last week and given a new coach with many new team members. Even Miami's big 3 in the first season started 8/9 and they were in the east. We need to build on the improvement, the positives. One surprise is that Hill turns into a shooting machine, LOL. That mean he can be used either as a stretch 4/5 for mid range jumper and that mean his big man opponent will have to move out to guard him. If Lin can have Davis as his persistent screen setter for p&r, and can run with some young guys like Clarkson, Ellington, even X & Wes, than he should do some up tempo attack. You need to score some easier basket this way than just depending on Kobe's iso. That will involve Lin more and his confidence will be up when his strength is utilized. I think out goal may not be playoff run with our poor D, but at least the O can give you some fun and competitive games. |

Yup. Only point in even talking about offense with those numbers is when turnovers become easy transition scores. |

Thanks DB as always. Looking for a more rested Lakers team on Tuesday. If the Lakers can continue to play (and coach) as well as they did in both the Clippers game and in building up the 10-point lead against the Warriors, things are looking up. |
